How long can a hair straightener be left on?

I have a very expensive hair straightener and my friend used it one day and left it on. It was turned up about half way, so 200 degrees-ish, and she left it on over night which was about 12 hours. It looks okay, but it really burned the surface it was sitting on (which is to be expected).





DO you think the straightener itself is okay? Would it be able to burn itself?How long can a hair straightener be left on?
The straightener should be ok, though leaving it on for long periods of time, unsupervised can be dangerous and greatly increases your chances of having a house fire.How long can a hair straightener be left on?
No, It is made to withstand that kind of heat for a long time. I would recommend getting a cleaner though, so that it doesn't get any residue or anything on your hair. =] Good luck.
it should be fine. mine shuts off on it's own after about an hour though
I say about a hour or a little longer but i would not keep it on all day I always unplug mine anyway!
