Where can i find ceramic hair straighteners besides online??

please answer i really need oneWhere can i find ceramic hair straighteners besides online??
a salon or beauty store the good ones are about $100-$150. mine is a ceramic its called a ';chi'; and its skinny about an inch wide. those are better cause you can get closer to the root.Where can i find ceramic hair straighteners besides online??
target cosco
Don't know where you are but places like T.J. Max and Sally's Beauty Supply or any Beauty Supply outlet should have them. The thing with getting them online is that a lot of the time you can get them cheaper, even with shipping than you can in a store.
ummm anywere
Walgreens. thats where i got mine.
ULTA beauty stores and stylist/salon places, like TradeSecret. You can find lower quality, cheap ones in Wal-Mart or a drugstore, but that isn't recommended for long-term use.
JC Penny salon has them but they are $100 in the store and only $55 on ebay.
hmm maybe a salon,wal-mart,target,k-mart maybe those?
I found mine at a salon/beauty store.
Any beauty supply store,Walmart,Sears,Etc. If your wanting a decent one though then be prepared to spend at least 50$ or more. You get what you pay for and my chi works a heck of alot better then the con air one I had. Also get one with a temperature setting so you can control how hot it gets to keep from excessive heat damage.
i bought one from the hairdresser for $40 - and department stores all have them too.

ps - dont forget to use the special conditioner to protect your hair and make sure it is totally dry before using it
u can get one at walmart or ther is always the mall they always have them
you can find them pretty much anywhere i see them all the time Lol they sell them at Target Walmart and etc at walmart they have a red conair one thats about $35 dollars :] i have one and i love it to death it works very well. its called Dry N' Straight 1 陆'; Ceramic Straightener

If u have short hair or hair to shoulder length then dont get a straightner width larger than an inch and a half

and for longer have go from 1 and a half inches to 2 and a half

Good Luck!
NEVER EVER EVER BUY ONE FROM A DRUG STORE!uggh....omg.its cheap but it doesnt last.it burns your hair and gives you mad split ends.sephora, ulta and target sell them.use heat protection spray before you straighten it.i read reviews before i buy a new one.ive heard pretty good thing about bed head, sedu and GHD
in the mall you know how they have those little stands or any hair store sallys should have them
i got mine at nordstroms and it works very good

Hair straighteners on thick straight hair?

Hi,

I was just wondering how effective hair straighteners are on thick straight hair?

Every time I wash my hair and towel dry it always sticks up like a big ball. I鈥檓 trying to get my hair to look similar to Zac Efron http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/08_04/049highschool3_468x467.jpg and was wondering if it was possible to get my hair like this.

Thanks!Hair straighteners on thick straight hair?
for that hair style, you should try using something like fizz-ease hair serum before you dry your hair. and then use got2b ';defiant'; and ';shagged out'; to sculpt your hair however you want it :]Hair straighteners on thick straight hair?
You would need to get a really good hair straightener. The con air ones you buy in the store only work on slightly wavy hair that isn't that thick. Or you can blow dry your hair first so its manageable and then straighten and it should come out like Zac Efron's but to get that look you'd need a straightening iron for sure. Of course its possible to get hairs like his you'd just need the iron!

Okk..hope I helped!! =]
Yes those electric hair straighteners. Please don't try those at home chemical straighteners they don't work they will just damage your hair and make it frizzy and stick out. But I bet they use a electric flat iron straightener on his hair when they style it. They make it look shiney and smooth like his.
I think that id possible if you have a good straightener and maybe some shampoo and conditioner to help.
Well I dont really know how thick your hair is... but I tell you I have thick hair and it doesnt work that good! but my hair is also curly so I really dont know.. but I can tell you that it wont probably get as straight as Zac's.
yeah straighteners will work on your hair.

yeah can get your hair like zac effrons.

how to get it:

1) when straiightening your hair, pull it down in the style you want.

hope i helped! =]

What the difference between hair-tong and hair straighteners?

i have always thought that hair tongs are curlers.

and straighteners are obviously straighteners. What the difference between hair-tong and hair straighteners?
tongs are curlers

straighteners are well, straighteners :PWhat the difference between hair-tong and hair straighteners?
a hair-tong is for curling hair and straighteners....well u know

Do you ever use hair straighteners?

i see all these people with perfect, straight hair, do some people have this naturally, or do you have to constantly straighten it?

my hair is annoyingly curly and fluffy, but i'v never used hair straigteners or stuff like that cos i'm scared it might damage my hair, do people have any experience of this?Do you ever use hair straighteners?
Hair straighteners are a gift from God. :) I have very curly hair as well and I am forever straightening it. You best bet would be to invest money into a good straightener. You can find cheap ones but they often break your hair or do not get hot enough. Find a nice one with a high heat seating with ceramic plates.Do you ever use hair straighteners?
i straighten my hair EVERY MORNING! try using Smooth Down Heat Glide from Redken. Also it depends on what kind of straightner you get. Get 100% ceramic. All the rest burn your hair.
I straighten my hair everyday. I use a GHD ceramic iron which isnt so bad for your hair, ceramic plates protect the hair from burning. Dont use cheap ones they just make your hair more fuzzy and dry. Go ceramic!
I always use a straightener--but using it every day can fry your hair. Just make sure you condition really well and then spray in leave in conditioner on your damp hair (after washing).
I had my blond hair straightened once and it turned orange- which I found out means it was burnt.

I have come to terms w/my curls and have just learned how to manage them. www.naturallycurly.com is a great place for info
My hair is excatly the same!...I have to clip it back in lllooads of sections (coz its very thick)..and then straighten each section practically burning it...which isnt very good becoz then it comes out after about 10 min

Do Wet-to-dry hair straighteners damage your hair?

How much damage do they cause?

Mine says it has vents on the side to stop damage and is ceramic. I tried it on a piece of hair and I could hear sizzling, though, so I don't know how good that is. Should I use the wet-to-dry heat or just play it safe and use only dry?Do Wet-to-dry hair straighteners damage your hair?
i heard they don't work anyway. it doesnt matter wat straightener you use, if you overheat your hair you are damaging it. BTW the sizzling was the water in your hair being boiled and evaporatingDo Wet-to-dry hair straighteners damage your hair?
I have a straightener like that and mine works great. for wet or dry hair, and if it has vents then there should be lots of steam, if its sizzling don't really worry about that unless it changes your hair color or your hair starts to get hard or really frizzy all the time. Straighteners only damage your hair if you use them way too much when you don't need to or if the heat is up too high, i have one that protects my hair from getting fried, because it can sense it, but mine was $120. So they can get expensive if you want a good one.
mine says the sizzle is normal but i don't like it either. :]

it wont damage your hair any more or less than a regular straightener would...i have a remington wet to straight and it works great when my hair is dry (on highest temperature), but it doesnt really work when my hair is wet. i have to do it once to dry it then again to straighten it. but for dry hair, it is the best working straightener i've used.
it doesn't damage it per say, but unless you put some sort of leave in conditioner or protective spray or gel at the least, it will smell like burning hair, b/c it is burning ur hair. but as long as u use some sort of product u will be fine. : )
I find, that even if it isnt bad for your hair, wet to straight makes my hair go really fly-away and messy looking anyway so i prefer drying it first, if your bothered invest in some good heat protection spray :)

  • Anyone tried Babyliss cordless hair straighteners ?

AFTER GHD WHAT IS THE SECOND BEST HAIR STRAIGHTENER ? THANKS.Anyone tried Babyliss cordless hair straighteners ?
i had a really bad experience with GHDs...i bought a pair from a faulty batch and they blew up....

i have tried the cordless babyliss straightners, and they are really good, but they tend to lose the heat wuite quickly, so if your hair is like mine and really thick, they arent ideal.

however, i have the corded babyliss straightners, ive had them almost a year now and the still work just as good todayas they did the day i bought them. Like i said, because my hair is thick, i need a pair that will retain a high heat, and these babies go right up to 230 degrees.

hope that helpedAnyone tried Babyliss cordless hair straighteners ?
I personally don't like GHDs and Babyliss cordless hair straighteners. GHDs really damaged my hair, and I thought the babyliss cordless straighteners were overrated and didn't stay heated for long enough. I'd recommend looking and vidal sassoon straighteners as all their products are of a good quality. I'm currently using vidal sassoon tourmaline slim straighteners, and they have a special offer of 拢19.99 in boots.
Wish i had enough hair to try one
i like CHI but babyliss is also good

I am planning to have baby in a few years. Is it safe to have chemical hair straighteners now?

YesI am planning to have baby in a few years. Is it safe to have chemical hair straighteners now?
Yes. Just check with your Doctor about doing that while pregnant.I am planning to have baby in a few years. Is it safe to have chemical hair straighteners now?
    yes.
i think it's okay if you are planning for a few years.

but my friends were telling me that while they were pregnant, the doctor said that they are not allowed to do anything while the baby is in them, and while they are breast feeding. because the chemicals get absorbed through your skin, and even though you may be able to handle it, you're probably a full grown adult. and a developing baby will not be able to be healthy with all these foreign chemicals.
Yes. Just keep in mind when you are trying or when you do become pregnant you can no longer use chemicals to straighten your hair, which means your roots will be curly and the ends straight until you are done breast feeding...might look kinda odd.
if it wasn't there would be a warning and i don't beleive there is unless you are already pregnant, i think your safe.
Yes, If it's in a few years. If your planning to have a baby in a few years then you might want to make sure your body is fit for the birth.

    Have lots of iron

You should start working on this about a year before your ready and during the pregnancy makes a much easier birth.

Are hair straighteners only for girls?

My friend said to me that hair straightners are only for girls! is this true or not? I am not 100% sure about this, so please tell me if its true or notAre hair straighteners only for girls?
    not true. I use them!

:PAre hair straighteners only for girls?
Yes, when you go to buy them, the cashier will only let you have them if you are female.

Also, once you have the straighteners, you will find a form to fill in inside the box. This asks you to send a copy of your birth certificate to the manufacturers. Once they receive this, they will verify that you are female, and send you a special code which you type into some buttons on the straighteners. Without the code, they won't work.

I know someone who got round this system and used his female friend's straighteners. As he used them, the straighteners sensed he was male and they spontaneously combusted, leaving him with burnt hair.
Thats like saying why cant men look as good as girls? Of course you can use them silly :-) Ignore your friends! Give it a few weeks or months and they will be using them or say let me have a ago as a joke and carry on using them xx
no, many guys use staightners as mush as girl use eyeliner and lipgloss. ...i hear some people say that only emo guys use staightners...=p
    haha no.

My ex straightens his all the time, cos his natural hair is really curly n he hates it

Hell ya if a gut uses a hair straightner then he is definitly gay.

How to i put curles/waves in my hair with hair Straighteners?

and is there a difference between 'waves' or 'curls' or is it the same thing? I dont want huge curls just a soft curl??? how do i do this with a hair straightener.

thanksHow to i put curles/waves in my hair with hair Straighteners?
you put yur hair in the strightner at the tip and curl it up so it works like a curling ironHow to i put curles/waves in my hair with hair Straighteners?
    the easiest method is-

grab a section of hair, doesn't matter if its large cos good straighteners (ghds) will do a big section in one go

place the straighteners at the top of the section with the hair between the plates

flip the straighteners so the're lying on thir back, but in the same position

slowly mover the straighteners down till u get to the tip of the hair

experiments with the size of the hair section and also how fats u go cos if u go quicker the curls will be looser
start at the bottom of your hair section (not the root near your scalp), grip your section in the starightener and just wind up. if you hold the straightner more horizontally you will get more of a curl, if its a bit more vertical more of a wave. the tightness of the curl depends on a) the size of the section (smaller sections= more curls) and b) how long you hold the hair in the straightener.

when i do it, i dont curl every bit of hair, just maybe two thirds, that keeps it looking looser and more natural too. Best thing to do is experiment to see what you like.

    have fun!!

    xx
Never use the straighteners on the tips of your hair. You will end up getting split ends. Start in the middle and work your way down. Follow the instructions on this link -

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Br3NWzdAK/a>

You can use any straighteners to do this. Happy curling!!!
You need a straightner that is very thin, you know those skiiny ones like the Chi. and just run it own a section and curl vertically out. Curls are tighter and well..curler! and waves are giant curls that are looser
well, lets see, usually people curl their hair with a ';curling'; iron, hence the name ';curl';, how the hell do you expect to curl your hair with a ';straightener';?

Try either Conair or Revlon. They are both good quality for hair straightener that u can buy for under $40. U can buy at Wal-Mart, CVS or Wal-Green's.

    Best hair straighteners for guys?

What's the best hair straighteners you can get for guys with medium length hair?

I heard the thin GHD's have no temperature setting, and Chi's break a lot.

What do you guys think?Best hair straighteners for guys?
Hmm, since you are guy and don't have that long of hair, I would recommend a thinner iron not a smaller. However, from reading your description I will assume you want an adjustable heat setting, so mini flat irons are out of the question. Mini flat irons usually have only one heat setting.

I would recommend the Solia 3/4 inch flat iron. This is a versatile flat iron, that can easily get roots, and is a regular size iron, but it has thinner plates.

    xBest hair straighteners brand?
if you get any straightner, get a remington one.

    they're fabulous.

they recently came out with a new line of em, and they're called micro diamond, because as soon as you straighten a lock of your hair, it gets all soft and shiny.

it's the best. i use it every day, and one of the best things is that it doesn't burn your hair as much as other straightners, so your hair doesn't smell bad afterwards.

    C:
everyone is saying GHD's and yeah they are the best, but price-wise, you should go for Salon angels! They look exactley the sames as GHDs, the temperature is the same - but they last a hell of a lot longer and are about 拢80 cheaper than GHDs.

    GHDs - around 拢100

Salon Angels - i bought mine for 拢20
Dont look at brands. Ghds are good, and i have them now, but look at those that are ceramic and heat up to 210c.

hey there, you can get them at salon services they have shops up and down the country, but may be worth your while trying ghd's they are also very good but always remember never to over use them and to use the flat iron spray of some sort at all times when straightening , wella do a great one ....Does anyone else have futura hair straighteners?

Has anyone heard of these straighteners that incorporate all three of these ';elements';?

Apparently, the top plate is titanium and the bottom plate is a mix of ceramic and tourmaline, i plan on getting one, but i just want to know whether they are good or a stay away and stick with normal ceramic only ones lol

thanks for any answers :dHair straighteners that have ceramic + titanium + tourmaline?
I've gone through three tourmaline straightners in three years and now I just use ceramic. It's the best for your hair. Check out this website and scroll down on it to read more.

    http://www.short-hair-style.com/comparis/a>

I'd definitely stick with ceramic..i've had mine for 1 and a half years and its still working fine...plus it doesn't damage the hair as much as titanium. anything that has different layers isn't good for hair because the straightner will rust sooner or later

and their so much cheaper because private shops and pagotas have to make alot of money to keep selling and buying wholesale, buying on ebay is like buying wholesale, without the bulkQuestion on hair straighteners?
I have curly hair and have had many different straighteners. The best one is the CHI. Since you have long hair, I would get the chi, it is the best and you dont want to damage your hair. The holidays are coming, can you ask for one. Its worth the money.
    Chi.

    You won't regret it,
get the remington wet 2 straight i love it!!

if your looking for a good straightener that's on the cheaper side, i would recommend the t studio pink tourmaline one at ulta. its around $50 for a two inch but is worth it

  • Do all hair straighteners permanently hurt your hair?

yes but not if you do it once in a whileDo all hair straighteners permanently hurt your hair?
Are you talking about straightening irons or chemical hair straighteners?

The chemical ones damage your hair until it grows out.

As long as you use a straightening iron with ceramic plates (NOT METAL) and you condition your hair enough, you should be safe just using an iron.Do all hair straighteners permanently hurt your hair?
I agree with many of these people-

    1. Shampoo and condition hair

    2. Use a heat protection product- cream or spray

    3. Use a ceramic plated straightener.

    4. Use a shine serum like garnier fructus or nuetrogena

    - You will have god-like hair.
If you straighten your hair everyday then yes. The straighter will damage your hair. It will make it all frizzy and you will barely be able to control it. If you get a good straighter than your hair will naturally start to be straight. Hope this helps! :]]
yeh pretty much but if u take care of ur hair u shud be fine.. use a heat defence spray before straightening .. %26lt;33
To minimize damage, make sure to not straighten your hair every day, as it is dehydrating. Also use a heat protection spray, and make sure you use a good quality straightener (ceramic), and make sure your hair is 100% dry before straightening, if it is damp then the heat of the straightener will make the water boil resulting in severe hair damage, and hair loss. You don't necessarily need to use the straightener on the highest heat setting, use a lower setting if you hair is fine, or light colour.

ALSO: CONDITION you hair as much as you can!!

Are there any do-it-yourself chemical hair straighteners?

Im a guy with short hair (only few inches long) but my hair is very wavy and when i try to spike it, it usually just settles down and doesnt stay straight. Id like to try a straightener but my hairs too short to use a straighening iron...any suggestions? thanksAre there any do-it-yourself chemical hair straighteners?
yes there are but they're harmfull. you can keep your hair short so it wont fuzz that much.

i have a SEDU and it works amazingly!

my mom has a chi but she has to use my sedu because it works so much better.

i have this wild, frizzy, curly hair and the sedu gets my hair pin straight in about ten minutes.
Get a CHI or FHI. My friend is a stylist at a really nice salon and all the stylists there use them. I've had mine for 2 years and it's still in excellent condition.
    sedu

the bead head one is 80 dollars is one the cheapest and its good quality their better one is 120 dollars but there both good
i have a straigtener that is called chi and it works really good. im pretty sure its maybe 60 -80 dollars. it heats up really fast and straightens really fast.
    Coriollis, Chi, or Sedu.
i use a conair one, it not the best, but it works.. and its pretty cheap, only about 25.
    Some real scary stories.
A Chi is good but there expensive!

Do hair straighteners damage your hair?

My older brother said that hair straighteners doesn't damage your hair. But I said it does. hoo's right?Do hair straighteners damage your hair?
hair straighteners do damage your hair. they fry it and make it look dead.Do hair straighteners damage your hair?
ALL heat products damage and dry out your hair.

You should always use a heat protectant before using your straightener. Also use a hair mask or weekly conditioner like Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask.

Some hair types damage easier then other. I have thin hair but a lot of it. So i can't really use heat products or else my hair gets dry and frizzy.

My sister on the other hand has extremely thick hair and straightens her hair every single day and doesn't take very good care of her hair but has amazingly healthy hair still.

You can't completely get rid of damaged hair. Products only cover it up. So don't start frying your hair completely. The best way to get rid of damaged hair is to cut it.
    you are deff right.

your brother is big time wrong.

any form of heat damages your hair.

and of course there are ways to decrease the amount of damage you do.

    but non-the-less.

straighteners aren't the best thing for your hair.

but, it doesn't really stop anyone from using them. :]
if you use it all the time

    it could damage it.

but they have shampoos and conditioners

    to fix damaged hair.

but i straighten my hair everyday

and it's not damaged at all.
Ya hair straighteners damage your hair for sure! If you buy the ceramic ones, such as chi's, they tend to be safer on your hair, but it still damages it.
yes it do damage your hair if u always constantly straighten your hair..or if u dont know how to use it properly..it can burn your hair..it really depends on how u use it also how your hair is..
you are they defiantly do, make sure to put in something like heat protection spray before straightening or else you'll end up with really dried out damaged hair
yeah it does damage ur hair. but only if you have it on to high and you don't use heat protection product. so tecnically you were both right!

Do hair straighteners make hair fall off?

    Hi.

I don't think straighteners make your hair fall off, generally speaking, but I did have a straightener, called Corioliss, that used to snag hair strands between the metal plates and the tip of the straightener and yank them out. I got rid of it, and got an FHI Heat Platform, which is the best that I have ever used.(yes, better than the CHI). The FHI is also uses far infrared heat which isn't damaging heat like some other straighteners. If you decide to get this one, order it from ebay. It will be cheaper than retail. (I got mine on ebay for $99. Retail is around like $170.)

Just look for straighteners that use ';floating plates'; to avoid the snagging problem. Also, use some straightening balm that will protect your hair from the heat, and don't straighten every day. Also, get a straightener with adjustable heat setting. Start with the lowest temperature and go up until you reach the lowest possible temperature that will get your hair to the straightness you desire.Do hair straighteners make hair fall off?
it can if you have damaged hair/split ends. My use to ALL the time and it made it about 3 inches shorter and fuzzy looking. As long as you get it trimmed every two months and use some sort of protecter and wash your hair regulary the iron should be good to go.. I had to cut all of my split ends of making my hair go from under my chest length to shoulder length.. it looks so bad, please, get regular trims.Do hair straighteners make hair fall off?
i guess it depends on how dried out and dead your hair is.

some can get ripped out if it gets stuck in the little cranny thinger but otherwise you should maintain a healthy amount of hair, and sometimes it's natural to lose hair, you should lose a certain amount everyday.
Ive been using it for years and my hair is still as thick as can be.If you straighten it, its just pulling out the hair that is naturally shedding
    noo not at all.

but it can damage hair some, so buy a thermal guard or something.
NO!!!!!!!It doesn't make my hair fall off
Now thats a rumor I have never heard before....lol

Chemical hair straighteners. what exactly is it?

i have wavy hair, i dont hate it, but i also dont like it.

i know i can get straight hair temporarily, day to day, by straitening it with a hair iron, but i am too lazy to do this.

so i am looking for some useful info about chem hair straighteningChemical hair straighteners. what exactly is it?
Chemical straightening is a quick fix but it takes a lot of maintaining. A chemical straightener is permanent so, once you do the process and don't like it the only way to have your natural hair again is to grow it out.Chemical hair straighteners. what exactly is it?
sorry not answering your question, but you got me confused, isnt that just getting a perm?

I have the conair infiniti sraightner. It is about $40-$45 and goes up to about 395 degrees f. It is a dry-hair straightner only.

Wet hair straightners fry your hair no matter if your hair is wet or dry because of the extreme temperatures.
don't use wet2straight ones, they are really bad for your hair. they dry them out really bad. a good set of straighteners are Babyliss total freedom 230. my sister has them and can be corded or cordless, which is good for the back or for bangs. just make sure you use plenty of heat protection spray as they get VERY hot!
perm solution works the best for at home treament or you can go to a salon and have it done
Wet to straight straighteners are good, because they don't burn your hair as hard as other regular straighteners.

    Safe to use hair straighteners?

Is it safe to use ceramic hair straighteners. I have a philips HP4646 and i wanna know if its good for my hair in the long run. i hate to to see steam go out when i'm straightening my hair even when its dry!Safe to use hair straighteners?
Using hot irons, even if it's ceramic, is never good for your hair. I straighten my hair fairly often, so I try to get a hair trim about every month to keep the ends from braking. Also, I use proclaim oil (sold at most beauty supplies) when I finish straightening, just a couple of drops will prevent your hair from drying since it has aloe. Hope this helps!Safe to use hair straighteners?
Straighteners are very bad for your hair because it kills it and just gives it split ends.

So,I use a product called ';Its a 10'; and I just spray it in my hair before I straighten it,it works good.
my hair is fine and i have the wet 2 straight straightner its perfect
I have a ceramic straightener, but I don't have any problems with steam... Maybe there is to much straightening product in your hair??? There shouldn't be steam, ceramic hair straighteners are said to be the best.
straightening your hair isn't good for it no matter what you use. it's gonna make it kind of brittle/dry. so what you want to do is get some good conditioner to keep it nice and healthy.

also, that steam may be products/conditioner build-up burning off your hair. either that or you have your straightener on too high of a heat...
use heat protector spray before you do it.
all hair straighteners are bad for your hair....
ceramic straighteners r the best. however, many claim to be ceramic and are not. look at the straightening part. when u turn it on, if the plate gets DARKER, it is real ceramic. if not, it is fake. im not really sure y steam is coming out. that is not good for ur hair. maybe the setting is too high.

Whats so special about Ghd hair straighteners?

i had exactly the same thoughts, smuggly using my far cheaper ceramic straighteners, until i went on holiday with a friend and borrowed hers! They truly are amazing. Because they are hotter and smoother than most other ones, less work is required to straighten your hair and they make your hair silky smooth!

Earlier models did have a slight burning out problem (or just plain old catching on fire!), but the newest model has a cut out timer. Well worth the ridiculous expense!Whats so special about Ghd hair straighteners?
its because they get so hot, they make your hair stay straight for ever! lolWhats so special about Ghd hair straighteners?
Well my naturally wavey hair only needs straightening twice-3 times a week after I wash my hair of after it gets wet. They are the best straightners around and they are definiatly worth 拢100
they get hot in 8 seconds and are the best. i'vre had mine for about 3yrs now.
they are over-rated! there are much better straighteners around and most people find that GHD's have a lot of technical problems and can burn out easily. i prefer my morphy richards :-)
omg, they r like the best straighteners ever, they are the only ones that truly work and your hair stays beautiful all day. it says it all in the name ghd with them you will always have a good hair day!

Can I use ceramic-coated hair straighteners on wet / damp hair?

yes u can. but i would strongly advise against it. it fries your hair, reguardless of what the directions say. stop being lazy...blow dry your hair first, THEN straighten it.Can I use ceramic-coated hair straighteners on wet / damp hair?
no u shouldn'tCan I use ceramic-coated hair straighteners on wet / damp hair?
The steam will fry your hair. Its better to use on dry hair teased with straightening foam.
    No Never Ever!!!!

You should never let anything hot touch wet hair, even your hairdryer shouldn't be on the hottest setting.

Basically if you were to straighten wet or damp hair, the heat causes the water inside the hair shaft to boil (imagine tiny droplets of water inside your hair shaft jumping around like when a kettle boils)

Eventually, the hair will snap off. You won't get big chunks coming away in your hand, but overtime you will be left with split ends, and you'll notice the ends are much finer and frazzled.

I wouldn't even do it once, even if your in a rush! It takes me about 15 minutes to roughly dry my hair, and it's very thick and long. And always remember to protect your hair with serum or a heat protections spray before applying any heat to your hair
no but id give you a head massage only trouble is youdyou fall asleep with wet hair and its frazzled in the morning
Just be careful as to it might burn your hair

    It is not supposed to
I wouldnt' when your hair cuticle heats up it opens up and so when it's wet the water boils and fry's the hair I have been told all of my career NEVER USE A HOT TOOL ON WET/DAMP HAIR !!!!
yes you can although it is better for your hair shaft if it is on the drier side.
better w/ dry hair (dont fry hair)
tricky quesiton, don't do either until you are definately sure
They are specific straighteners for wet hair.. i.e. wet to straight. You could use the ceramic coated on damp hair, however it still makes it fry, so I'm presuming it will do a lot of damage to your hair and also the straighteners, if its really wet.
if you have ever used one, you will know that it makes a sound like you are frying an egg when you use it on wet hair. however it still works, it just takes longer and it might wear out your straightener and probably your hair. if you do do this however, i suggest you use biosilk. it protects your hair from heat damage. p.s. do not blow dry your hair first! that would be doing a double wammy to your hair!
read the directions... they usually have it somewhere on the packaging if you can use it on wet hair.
you would be frying it its best on blowdried or at least dried hair
yup, its better for the hair when its dry though
Be very careful water and electricity do not mix, so better on dry hair.
No definitly not it frys ur hair and u will have fly aways!

  • Hair Straighteners - Which ones are good?

I have been looking to getting a straightener and was recommended a CHI flat iron, but after reading reviews about how they stop working, some withing a few months, i am not so sure! Is this a common problem? Are there any other quality ceramic flat iron that are good?Hair Straighteners - Which ones are good?
CHI's are like that now because they are no longer made in Korea, so the quality is poor. I would not bother with a CHI.

The ultimate flat iron is GHD...i owned a chi (made in Korea lol) for 5 years, and the GHD is not comparable, it is nothing short of a miracle. I love GHDS! if you cant afford it, my second choice would be a Sedu Revolution, my friend has one and its pretty good.

Ive also heard great things about the Hairart H3000

http://www.folica.comHair Straighteners - Which ones are good?
CHI's are alright. they are only coated with ceramic. they are not actually ceramic plates. underneath the coat is metal and that damages your hair a lot. try a cortex, they're just like a CHI but with ceramic plates and they are a lot cheaper.
i have one and ive had it for 6 months and nothing has happened yet so id get one, or get the bigger padded ';wet 2 straight'; renmington it works well too. if you have thick hair youll have to put that straightener on 30 to make it actually straight .
Hot Tools makes a few different ceramic flat irons. I don't have one, but I have a Hot Tools curling iron that has worked great for me for several years. It seems like their flat irons are reasonably priced for ceramic. Good luck!
Sedu is like the equivalent of a CHI but they last way longer and that's why people buy them. They're amazing!! Just be sure to put some hair serum after straightening so it STAYS straight. John Frieda- orange bottle.

    Good luck.
try the Instyler! its awesome!! i have one and it works soo well!! look it up on google

Do ceramic hair straighteners damage your hair?

All hair straighteners damage your hair, but ceramic is not as bad.Do ceramic hair straighteners damage your hair?
    They all do.

Flat irons, curling irons, hair dryers, they all damage your hair.

Using a proper heat protectant spray/serum will help minimize damage while using these styling tools.Do ceramic hair straighteners damage your hair?
Basic rule of thumb. Any heat of any kind will damage the hair shaft. Heat couple with a pulling motion is even worse. So, ceramic or not, it hurts the hair. But it looks pretty:)
they all damage your hair. Straightening your hair is like burning it. Get some straightening gel or spray to put in your hair before you straighten. But ceramic is okay
yes but not as much you should still use heat protectent

Are there any shops in Claremont (Perth) that would sell Hair straighteners?

Yes, there's heaps of hairdressers and one or two larger stores (Myer or DJs) - there's shops near Christ Church school and also down nearer to Peppermint Grove.

Better yet, jump on the bus to the city or Fremantle and do your shopping there.

Anyone own any Nicky Clarke Kinder 4 Hair straighteners?

If so, are they any good. I have Mark Hill Morphy Richards ones and they work well but I was wondering whether the increase of 20 degrees makes a difference??

I am not interested in getting GHD's, I want to find a more affordable pair where you get similar results? Are the Nicky Clarke ones any good?Anyone own any Nicky Clarke Kinder 4 Hair straighteners?
no I DON'T LIKE THINGS LIKE THAT TO BURN YOUR HAIR IS not a good idea

thank youAnyone own any Nicky Clarke Kinder 4 Hair straighteners?
My girlfriend had the Nicky Clarke ones but the cable broke and couldn't easily be repaired. She wanted me to get GHD's but I read a few reviews and found that SCP had good professional reviews for their model range. As they are very reasonably priced I gave it a go and she was more than satisfied with the results she can achieve. I ordered hers through - http://www.hairstuffdirect.co.uk/ They were rapidly despatched and she has had no problems with them for nearly 2 years.
yeah don't buy them though they break alot and are not cheap to repair.

good luck finding new ones though
Why does no one listen? Ghd is the only way to go, you are kiddin yourself. Yes-they are far more expensive than any others but there is a reason for this. THEY ARE THE VERY BEST, do yourself a favour an save up an go get some.

Remington costs 20-30 dollars (thats what I use and I love it) It is sold at walmart or drugstores. What are the best hair straighteners...?
In addition to all the other answers, somebody should point out the obvious from all those ads, that girls with gloriously curly hair are presented as orgasmically straightening it, and girls with beautiful willowy long straight hair are shown stewing in endorphins while curling it! The observable weakness of the human mind for greed over simply what ';someone else has';, feeds a huge industry. Conversely, ';anything new'; stirs up new neural pathways in everyone involved, resulting in more actual ';near-life-experience';, in a sea of illusions and assumptions taken root and seen as presumed reality. As soon as we use an illusion in any way, it becomes real to an extent, and we are stuck with it! Choose wisely. Regards, Larry.
I think the best straighteners are at la beauty mark its a little stand at the mall. its a little more than 70 $ but you can straighten your hair, curl it, flip it out, and flip it in. The best part is for a whole year you can go back show them your receipt so you can get your hair done for free. they come in several colors.

Good luck finding the perfect straightener
iv heard of chi buts its lik 100 any straightner is fine as long as it is ceramic and not wide . if your looking for one that will make your hair silky revlon is a great one . you can aslo get a pretection spray by matrix that works great :D . i used it with the spray and saw a major difference i wasnt frying my hair

    it was like, $30.

i have the frizziest, curliest hair and in about 30 mins my hair is pretty straight. and you can control how hot it goes, unlike a chi, so you dont have to fry your hair.

    hope this helped!

I don't know if you have one or not but I know bed bath and beyond has them (i know weird) but you can got to their website and get on their mailing list and they'll send you a 20% off coupon and its originally like $129 for a regular 1 in and then its around $100 with the coupon. Also they accept competitors coupon so if you have a linens n things coupon they will accept it! Hope this helpsThis is for people who have had problems with Chi hair straighteners???
I got my Chi about a year or so ago and so far I really like it. I bought it because when my hairdresser used it on my hair my hair looked awesome...shiney straight and healthy. So far no problems. Before the Chi I just had a conair or something...a big wide iron that was too hard to maneuver. What problems are you having? The only real problem that I have with it is that I can't make my hair look as good as when my hairdresser does it and I can't figure out why!!!!
chi's are awesome i give it a 9.5 out of ten. never had anything better
I would say it was a 7 because I really liked it while it was working but within a year it was broken. Sparks started flying out of the cord. I haven't found one that I really like more than the CHI but right now I have an ION, and it's okay.
what!? they are the best. i give 9/10!
    3/10

The one i have also has the option of curling hair. beautiful curls!--with this you can give you hair flips and body.

    its amazing!
I give it a 8.5! I have this and love it! The only thing is that it's very very hot and it can burn you eaily

Good Luck! What are the best hair straighteners to buy besides ghd?
I use GHDs and they are terrific!!!

Although my friends use FHI's and also Remington ceramic straighteners and claim that they are just as good. I think that FHI's are still around 拢60-拢70, but the Remington ones are much more affordable (around 拢20)

This website may be helpful - www.hairstuffdirect.co.ukWhat are the best hair straighteners to buy besides ghd?
My Remington hair straighteners were only 拢25 but they are amazing.

They heat up to 220 degrees in less than a couple of minutes, they came with a heat proof mat to lay them on %26amp; they glide through my hair %26amp; make it so sleek %26amp; shiny, I'd definitely recommend them to you.
CHI is best. It's ceramic so it doesn't give you static. It works really well and heats up within a few seconds. They're pricey though- go to Sally Beauty or another beauty supply store to get it for cheaper.
You want to find a straightner that has no metal in it. Also you don't want a straightner that can heat up really hot because it will fry you're hair. I had a CHI and i broke it to see if it had metal in it and it did. Even though some people think there good...i still think there are better straightners out there.
    huge choice
I would say the CHI flat iron. First it is 100% ceramic, not ceramic coating. There is a 1 year warranty with it and it has movable plates. Which you can use to flip or curl your hair along with straightening.
i would say CHI flatiron is a good one
Corioliss pro and you can get them in a pink for the girly girls (I wouldn't go on holiday without them)
none ghd r the best, nothing else compares
ghds are great- if you have dull, lifeless hair

i use remington wet2straight and they work amazingly. i have rli thick hair and it thins it down while leaving it glossy and easy to manage. i would reccommend them over ghds to anyone
vidal sassoon is coming out with this hair dryer that instantly straighten the hair as it dries. Im not sure when it will hit the market
First of all....lots of bad info going on here! CHI Irons are not a solid ceramic plate. They are a coated ceramic plate. The only benefit to a solid vs. coated plates are that they heat up much quicker. They all heat to their full capacity in less than one minute so unless you're in the salon the extra 15-20 seconds won't make a difference. Solid ceramic plates are very fragile, they will crack if you drop your iron. Coated plates are much more resilient but after time, the coatings (Which are made with a process of dipping and baking) will chip off. I highly recommend the Hot Tools ceramic irons over the CHI for numerous reasons:

    More ceramic coatings.

Higher heat settings, they will get up to 200* C with is about 430* F. You need at LEAST 400* F to close the cuticle of the hair so anything less is far more damaging than a higher heating appliance as you need several passes with the iron to achieve the desire results.

Tourmaline and Ceramic. Ceramic uses a far infrared heat to heat the hair from the inside out. It's a much quicker heat source. Tourmaline is the only gemstone that emits it's own ION. The other's that have only ceramic and claim to have ION are not being truthful. You can charge an item with ION but unless it has a delivery system it's useless..ie. in a blowdryer the air is the delivery system. In a flat iron the Tourmaline is the delivery system.

Pulse Technology. This means that it keeps the iron at the desired temperature. When using the appliance, you will lose heat as it is displaced from the iron to the hair....feel how hot your hair is after you pass it through the iron. The Pulse Technology is simply a mechanism in the heating element that pulsates to keep the temperature consistant.

Floating plates which require less tension on the iron to compress completely on the hair.

Rheostatic heating, so that you can choose how hot you want the iron to get. Hair that is more damaged requires less heat. As do blondes and gray hair. It will actually scorch the hair and make it yellow.

And BEST OF ALL....Price! The Hot Tools #1188 one inch ceramic, tourmaline iron will run you about $60 and the CHI is about twice that amount.

So, all in all I totally recommend the Hot Tools #1188 one inch flat iron! It's got the most bang for the buck!

And it's not just because I work for the company, it's also because I'm a stylist and my clients deserve the best products!
Do you see how the fur of a cat looks when someone steps on its tail? its just like getting an electric shock and the guys are gonna think you have just been shocked wearing straight hair.

What are the best hair straighteners?

GHD's are sure one of them, which other ones are as good as they? I want to get a new 1! help! What are the best hair straighteners?
GHD's by far :)What are the best hair straighteners?
    remmington are cool

    nicky clarke is gd 2

but i think GHD's are the best ever
    babyliss pro
I highly recommend the Sedu . I bought the new one that they have and I love it. It heats fast and doesn't pull my hair. It has a temperature control on it so you can control the heat. Lots of people on yahoo seem to recommend the CHI but if you go to this site which sells alot of different brands and read the customer reviews you will see that the CHI is not all that great ...lots of people seem to have problems with them. This site I am sending you if you order from them you have a thirty day return option. So if you order one and are not happy you can send it back within thirty days ....... But the Sedu is great ...it is worth every penny ...

    http://www.folica.com/appliances.htm

Hope this was somewhat helpful ~~~

I have never heard of the SCP flat iron...I did Google it ....But I trust Folica ....they are just a good company and rate and review every product ....
remingtons, they are good, and rather cheap :D
I use Paul Mitchell and it works great. Chi is also a good brand to use.
    CHI
Chi is the best brand of straighteners my friend has one and it is amazing. you can buy them at trade secret. But just fyi they r kinda expensive
I say don't even straighten your hair every girl in my school straightens their hair... its so cookie cutter like.

I refuse to even date a girl that would alter her image like that

I say leave your hair the way it is for a number of reasons:

    1) straighting your hair kills it, you'll go bald eventually :o

    2) It doesn't discern you form the other girls, no originality :\

    3) 5 years from now when most girls are bald from straightening your hair, you'll be the prettiest in the bunch by not being bald and such =]

    4) you'll stand out more, every one straightens their hair and you have nice curly healthy hair... dunno... you'd look pimp'n =D
CHI !! their pricely but worth it. ive had mine for 2 years now but they do cost 149$.
    if not ghds nicky clarke

What are the best hair straighteners value wise?

I know that they can be a bit expensive but GHDs really are the best on the market - I went to a music festival not that long ago and I couldn't wash my hair - My hair stayed poker straight. You can get them for about 80 pounds and even tho that sounds expensive you wont regret it - Honestly no other products even come closeWhat are the best hair straighteners value wise?
GHDs are definitely the best - I should know, I've tried them all. Don't know where Kathy above got them for 拢29.99, but I would snap them up pronto. Other than that, try on-line, you can usually get them for about 拢75 - try amazon. Hope this helps. What are the best hair straighteners value wise?
I really don't think there is a dramatic difference between expensive ones and cheap ones, as long as they have ceramic plates so not to dry out and damage your hair. I got mine for

$14 at Kroger on sale, it has ceramic plates and has always worked excellently, though I really only use it around twice a month.
Look for ones that have solid ceramic plates (not ceramic coated).

Babyliss ceramic straighteners from Argos are good and they are a lot cheaper than GHDs.
i have to say GHD's are the best - i have had the same ones for over 2 years and they still work like they did when they were brand new - expensive but WE'RE WORTH IT
Any ceramic ones. GHD are best if you can afford them. Superdrug has them for 拢89.99 just now.

If you can wait till after xmas you'll get loads of bargains. Boots usually has a fab sale on straightners.
ghd's, for curling, straightening and more. expensive though.
    CHI
You can get some really good straightenersw on ebay. look for ones with tourmaline, there are good ones for under 20$ dont forget to check shipping costs!
G.H.DS mate there ace your hair stays straight all day long and the next day :) expencive but worth it trust me... :)
remingtom wet to straight. 拢39. now at argos.
    chi
There's this one i bought called corioless..it's $130 but its TOTALLY WORTH IT! Just straiten in after you hair has dried after a shower and it stays strait until you take another shower. It doesn't fry your hair, it uses infared waves. I use it so much that i can take a couple of showers and my hair will stay strait! PS you'll have to buy it online or something because I bought it from a koisk in the mall.
Use Schwarzcopf products. They are trust worthy and sure are value for money.
    FHI they are great
    wet n dry nicky clarke
I can't see beyond GHDs. They are pricey but worth it.
the best i found were ghd 25.99 excellent value
    ghd
GHDs are pricey but well worth the money, they heat quickly and evenly, have pure ceramic plates and last ages! Well worth the money believe me!
Remington is good actually......i use that as well
if your hair is long enough, iron it,lay it out on the board and have someone iron it for you, hard to do yourself

I need new hair straighteners. Recommendations?

I'm thinking of getting GHD's but i've heard a mix of opinions.

I have naturally thin and wavy hair. it waves up easily. usually by the time i get to work (15 minute walk) my hair has started to go wavey again, and gigs... i wont even go there.

what would you guys recomend?I need new hair straighteners. Recommendations?
I have recently been brought some GHD's and I think they are great my hair stays straight all day and my hair is naturally wavy too. Compared to my old hair straightners they are fantastic. I have got the mose recent up to date ones, I would definately recommend them, hope i helped :) xI need new hair straighteners. Recommendations?
i have an amika, it works great. my hair before took 30 minutes to straighten, now it takes only 5.

i heard alot of stylists use the chi, which is good as well.
I have naturally wavey hair too and i use coriolis straightners. They're brilliant. Keep my hair straight all day. Wouldn't be w/o them. :]

  • Anyone got kodo hair straighteners? are the ceramic bit on the kodos scratching off the plates?

I have Kodo's and had them for almost 4 years. Just checked them and no, they're fine. I love them, much better than GHD's, which feel a bit lightweight and tinny to me. I recommended Kodo's to my friend and she had problems with them though...

Where can i get a pair of ghd hair straighteners?

Ebay - the best place to get them cheaper than anywhere else. I got a pair from there and they're excellent.
    beauty parlour,salon.
If you live in the UK Superdrug stock them but you have to ask for them as they don't keep them on display. I think they're 拢80. You can get them cheaper from wholesalers, look in the Yellow Pages.

Good hair product shops. one in Castle Street, Dundee.
Ghds arn't what they seem. You pay all that money for str8ners when there are ones on the market that are just as good for alot less. Trust me have thick hair and thought GHD's were the only onces that would work. Try Morphy Richards thermoceramic ones.
why dont you try ebay hun they always have some good offers on them

I've sat on my hair straighteners and it hurts.. what should I do?

I sat on my hair straighteners before getting into the shower.. i have two big lines and it really hurts, i don't know what to do, will is scar? if not what can i do to stop it from scarring?I've sat on my hair straighteners and it hurts.. what should I do?
First thing first, try not to sit on the straightener again. Second of all, you will need some aloe vera to put on it. Last, but not least, it might scar, depending on how hot the straightener was before you sat on it, how long you were sitting on it, and how sensitive your skin is. I was burnt with a curling iron when I was in 5th grade. It didn't look all that horrible, just a really wide, burn mark. But it did scar, horribly so. It was a dark brown scar it's pretty much just now gotten to the point where it's not as noticeable.I've sat on my hair straighteners and it hurts.. what should I do?
never put cream on a burn. It will insulate it especially not vaseline unless you want to cook it. very cold water, use a shower with just the cold tap for 10 mins until your bum is numb it will ache at first but if you can get past that it will go numb. Then lie on your front for 10 - 20 mins to see if the burning has stopped, if not repeat the process. A burn is not just on the surface but will continue into the deeper layers. That's why you should get it as cold as possible. Don't use ice, you could end up with an ice burn.

When the burn has scarred and healed. Decleor sell an excellent gel which works on scars
i done the same thing! kills dont it!

run your self a cold bath and sit in it for about 10-20 minutes.

then get some vasaline and rub it onto the marks.

keep applying every half an hour.

    hope it helps :)
Poor you, sit on something very cool, crushed ice in a tea towel or something. Have you got any sudocrem? Good for burns, or lasonil.

    Good luck xx
i prob wont scar, just put ice on it for a while and use chamomile lotion on it or buy a burns gel from the pharmacy.

If i use hair straighteners on my nose hair will it make me more desirable to women?

    Try extentions.

We like to pull hair during sex too

~ShaeIf i use hair straighteners on my nose hair will it make me more desirable to women?
If you are thinking about using a chemical relaxant, I'm almost positive that would not be the worst chemical ever shoved up your nose. I'd either go with a flat iron or tweezers. Tweezers will make you cry just like the day you lost your virginity. If i use hair straighteners on my nose hair will it make me more desirable to women?
I know for me personally I love straightened nose hairs - there's just something about them that give me the tingles.
if you can stick a hair straightener up you nose, i don't think anything can help you buddy.

just yank em out. i dont care if it hurts just yank em!!
If you keep it nicely combed or braided, you would be irresistible.
Probably not. I would it kill your sense of smell and you wouldn't have to worry about dealing with their body odor... go for it
    hahahahahahhhaahahahaha

    NO
It might get up your nose more than theirs..

    I don't think so...I personally prefer a little natural curl. :) x
I must admit that I like your curly nose hair ... especially when it goes into your mouth!
    OMG you're hot!

That would make me just ';put it on you'; Wil.
Trrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry it :) I do recommend it! :)

    Did you?!
    Haha, good one!

Maybe, depends on the woman you are with... :]
omglol. Yussssh! I've been looking all my life for a man with straight nose hair. You COULD be the One. jk

Are copy chi hair straighteners any good?

I don't want to blow the big bucks on a REAL chi hairstraightner, and I saw fake ones sold on ebay for cheaper.

My question is, do they work just as well as the real one?

I need help in knowing weather it heats up jsut as well, its durable, ect... ty :)Are copy chi hair straighteners any good?
um well, i owned a fake and they work good, just not as good as CHI. they take a couiple minutes to hwet up vs CHi wich taks 5o seconds. they didnt really get me hair that flat. and minie broke. it snapped in tow. i would say buying a chi is the best. they are VERY durable.

    --Nick

    Can you answer my question?

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?/a>Are copy chi hair straighteners any good?
No, the fake ones aren't worth the money. They aren't nearly as good. If you really want a good straightener that is actually going to work, you need to spend the money, either on a CHI or one of the other more expensive brands. The higher the temperature, the more effective they are.
    any ceramic straightner is great!

    just get ceramic!
get the one from sallys. i own it and its amazing
GHD'S are the best that you can ever get.. celebs use them as you cant get any better

    hope that helps ;)

    Hair straighteners not working properly?

I have some Remington wet2straight straighteners (not the wide ones) i have had them about nearly 2yrs they have been good, but lately when i switch them on, they have not been coming on, i noticed the wire near the plug was loose, so i undid the plug and fixed it, they were ok for about 2 weeks but they have started doing it again, when i switch them on the red light on them keeps going on and off, i have to keep whiggerling the wire to make them work, also with my straighteners i always used to wrap the wire round them when i had finished using them, do you think this has made them go funny over the course of time, im thinking do i have to get some new ones and not sure what ones to go for?Hair straighteners not working properly?
Hi it could deffianly be the wire and I have learnt from this and never wrap the wire round the hair straightener as there too dear to waste. I would get someone else to have a look at them as it could just be the wire keeps on coming loose and might just need a new piece or some how fixing into place.

If the wet2straight straightners are the ones you use and you use them from wet, then I would just go with the same ones as you might not like to have to blow dry your hair first before you use the straightener, But if you just use them on dry hair anyways the I would deffiantly got for GHDS they are the best ones you can have. I have got the wet2straight slim ones and I dont like them much as I think they pull loads. I have tried nearly every type of hair straightener out there and the only ones that are woth the money are GHDS.Hair straighteners not working properly?
It sounds like the flat iron is broken. You should buy a new one...the same brand since you have had success with it. I have seen this particular model at all discount department stores like K-Mart, Walmart and Target.
that happened with a set of my straightners i finnished up getting a new set as i think the internal cable must have been damaged.
If you are a christain, just pray to God the day before you go to the supermarket. If you believe in miracles it will work for you.Always have faith in God, with him all things are possible.
sounds like the wire is damaged id get some new ones if i were you
get some ghd's they aint that expensive
Don't play with electricity and dont attempt to fix things if you dont know 100% what u r doing.......buy a new one.....
The same thing happened to myself and i figured it was the wire, however if the straighteners were covered under manufacture guarantee (some up to 3 yrs) i would have sent it back to the manufactures and complained that it was faulty (without mentioning i wrap the wire around the straighteners) before attempting to buy a new one.

    Good Luck!
sounds like a broken internal wire with all the twisting.

Get yourself a set of GHD's
    maybe it's just old

if you straighten your hair a lot I would invest in a more expensive straightener such as a chi, the wet2straight straightener only has a ceramic coating, and if its old the ceramic coating has probably worn away, and that'll cause a lot of damage to your hair.

Chi's come in a lot of different (and cute!) colors, and they range from 100-130, however you could probably find them on sale for less.

It's not really a easy decision, but ask if you can return the straighter if you don't like it.

First try out the Chi, if it's not you, get the Solia.

Both are really good.Hair straighteners:What's better chi or solia?
    Depends on your hair type.

I have really thick, long wavy hair, and I have a lot of it. I've had the chi for like 9 years, and I love it.

At this point, I just wash my hair at night, put some serum in it, let it dry over night, and I straighten it in the morning, takes me about 10-15 minutes, max. Just be careful with it, drop it, and the plates will come right off, my sister did that with hers. The warranty will not cover it.
I have jilbere and I like it alot. Its cheaper than Chi.

I've used Chi and its the best straighener I';ve ever used. So if you want to spend the money, do it!
Chi is one of the best straightners. It heats in like 60 seconds, and it'll keep your hair straight all day! It works wonders :D
Chi straighteners are ah-mazing! get one!
Chi deffinitly. i go on folicia.com to order mine.

my chi works really well :) its kinda pricey though. i got another one of mine at Target for about $90

i say put some skin ointment on it ouch.. i've done that before too lol

Why are they called ';a PAIR of hair straighteners'; when there's only one?!?

In general, any tool made of two hinged parts is called a pair, even after they are put together. Hence pliers, scissors, calipers etc. (The name used in Sheffield, where scissors were traditionally made, for the person who puts together the two halves of a pair of scissors is a ';puttertogetherer';)

There is one interesting exception to this rule: ';forceps';. It is confusing. It looks like a plural because it ends in an ';s';, but that is because it comes straight from Latin. It is wrong to talk about ';a pair of forceps';. If you have two of these tools, you should say ';a pair of forcipes';Why are they called ';a PAIR of hair straighteners'; when there's only one?!?
    two plates.

its like a pair of pants. there is only one garment, but 2 leg holes.

A pair of glasses. only one item, but 2 lenses.

Its all thanks to the stupid language we call englishWhy are they called ';a PAIR of hair straighteners'; when there's only one?!?
Same as pair of trousers, glasses, scissors, tweezers, etc, etc....
    maybe they are referring to the plates , as there are 2 plates and its the plates that straightenn the hair ';a pair of straighteners';
cos there is two plates to straighten hair
Same reason as we have pairs of scissors, tongs, trousers, tights, knickers, etc etc
I don't care if they are a pair, as long as they straighten my hair.:-)
i think is cuz theres two plates
    2 plates
why is a pair of pants called a pair of pants when theres only one...the world will never know..
    two plates perhaps?!
sometimes they say a pair like 4 exxample 1 pair of shoes coming right up!!
because there are two straightening plates hense a pair

Am looking into buying hair straighteners for when i go on Holiday...?

worldwide voltage to worldwide usage (do i need travel pluge for any one still)Am looking into buying hair straighteners for when i go on Holiday...?
What I always do is, take my normal straightener, and buy an adapter or two for whatever country I will be in. Some packaging is misleading and this is the only way you can be sure it will work when you get there. Just so you know, highly traveled tourist countries, USA%26lt; Australia, Canada etc, sell adapters EVERY where. Have a fab trip!

Good hair straighteners for the price?

    From experience, please :)

could you tell me how much they cost and where you got it? thanks!Good hair straighteners for the price?
Omg, all you need is a Remington Wet 2 Strait, it works wet or dry. I have the worst most frizzy poofy wavey awful hair :\ but ever since i started using the Remington it is amaizing!!!!!! I got it at Walmart for around $20 (mabe up to 25, but deff not over 30!), best $20 i ever spent ;)

A little tip: If you have thicker hair it will do you wanders if you put it in a series of ';half ponies'; to where your hair is in thinner layers. What i like ta do is pull it back starting at around the corners of my eyes, straiten that, then measure up about an inch pull it back then straiten that (that falls, just use a brush ta get to the wavy/curly stuff, ontop of the stuff you already straitend ^_^), keep doin that till you just have the top part (im sure you will get the hang of it wen your there), your hair will beh amazinggggg!

-Gud luck!!! ^_^Good hair straighteners for the price?

DO NOT GET CONAIR!! I got a straightning iron from them like a year ago, and it didn't get hot enough so i couldn't straighten my hair :( i would get Cortex. It's a one inch iron, and you can get it from Winners for 30 dollars... (it's worth 200 dollars.) You can get it in a pink or blue, and you can change the temperature. It gets hot in like, 1 minutes, or else. It's amazing!! And you can straighten your hair the night before, and it will be straight when you wake up in the morning. I straightened my hair once, and it was pin-straight for 2 days (probably more because i washed my hair on the third morning)

  • Where do canadian salons get there amazing hair straighteners?!?

PLEASE DON'T TELL ME ONLINE! What stores? How much would they cost?Where do canadian salons get there amazing hair straighteners?!?
Most likely beauty Supply stores...but that's hard to tell what store, as Alot Beauty Supply's require you have a hairstylist license to even buy there...And it's hard to tell you the cost, if you don't know what the Straightener is..It can range from $100, to $150Where do canadian salons get there amazing hair straighteners?!?
Sorry, but the only place I get my straightener is folica.com.

Get a sedu, they're so much better than a CHI. They don't pull your hair, it's super straight, and it stays like that for like 3 days. AND they're cheaper.

    :D
I dont know. But Chi straighteners are amazing but they're usually like $180

I love the Zoe hair straightener. I have the leopard one c:

It only takes 5 minutes to straighten my hair,

Versus with the Chi, it takes 30-40 minutes to straighten.

    Just saying :]

I don't think that they necessarily have to be a great ';namebrand'; straightener, you just have to make sure that the temperature gets high enough. I believe a good one gets up to around the 200's.
    they suck
    never heard of them

    probably c-r-a-p-p-y
Dont know, Chi and babyliss are the best ive tried

Question about plugs on hair straighteners?

Hi, I'm thinking of buying a ghd hair straightener here in the us tho im taking it back to italy. Will it work? I wouldn't want it to burn while I iron my hair....Question about plugs on hair straighteners?
All you need is an adaptor from Aussie to Italy.

Alternatively you could wait untill you get to Italy and buy a straightner in the country... That way you will have one you can use in the country with a valid warranty.

I have a chi hair Straightener and i was wondering if they really are better then other straighteners?

    They are!

I had this one from Wal Mart that was like 80 dollars and I use it everyday and thought it was pretty good considering my hair is naturally extremely curly. Then, one day last weekend, I was sleeping over my friend's house and she has a CHI straightener and used it on my hair. It was amazing compared to usual. I didn't even put any hair product in. I'm asking for one for christmas.(:I have a chi hair Straightener and i was wondering if they really are better then other straighteners?
well, i have had lots of really expensive straighteners before. ranging from 100-200$... and they have all broke within a matter of a year. usually much sooner then that. last time it broke i did not feel like asking a friend to borrow theres untilll had time to go to ulta or sephora so i went to walmart and bought a 50$ one to hold me over, and i have now had it over 7-8 months. it works GREAT, doesnt kill my hair, has yet to break on me, (or short circut,my biggest problem) and its cute:) and it works JUST as good even better i could say then any of my expensive onesI have a chi hair Straightener and i was wondering if they really are better then other straighteners?
    CHI straightener's are good straightener's,

i just heard they break quickly.

the conair ones r really good
chi straighteners are very good they are top noth but the paul mitchell ones work great too
u have hair ? lol sryy xcept in ur avatar u have no hair

    My hair straighteners smell funny?

when i switch them on,its not a burning smell really, but what can i do?My hair straighteners smell funny?
does it have grease on it? if it does make sure to clean it properly around the edges from time to time....or maybe when you heat it up and use certain products on your hair that gives off the bad smell while straightening so you can try change the heat protector product or serum you use if any.My hair straighteners smell funny?
The same thing happens to me.

It's because i use quite a bit of products in my hair, and when i run my straighteners through my hair, you can smell the burning of the product.

    Edit:

switch them on, so they are warm, and then get a baby wipe, and 'straighten' the baby wipe, and it will get rid off all the grease and dirt.
I think it's the metal or the ceramic of the iron heating up that causes the smell. Ceramic smells particularly bad. It might also be because of oil from the hair left on the iron. Mine smells a bit too. It started smelling more after I used it several times. I don't know that there's anything that can be done about it. Maybe try cleaning it some how?
yeah the smell is the remains of your hair products (conditioner, heat spray etc) evaporating, its the smell of steam i have this smell on my ghd's :) x nothing to worry about x

also to clean them just use a baby wipe/wet wipe

    not water!

and have the cold. not hot

    hope i helped

do yours have white marks on them?

    x
Try cleaning the sides that touch the hair by wiping them off with some alcohol after use when cool. This may clean off the products and avoid burning smells when turning on the appliance.
    add perfume

    by a new one

    deal with it

    cover your nose
