What do you think of britiain's current obsession with hair straighteners?

I have curly hair, and I think straight hair is lovely too, but I don't understand why so many girls like their hair poker straight, like it was just ironed over. It's not only bad for hair but it doesn't look natural. What does everybody else think? What do you think of britiain's current obsession with hair straighteners?
I agree. I also have curly hair. I put a relaxer in my bangs so they don't frizz up but I leave the rest curly. What do you think of britiain's current obsession with hair straighteners?
I am one of those girls that is obsessed with the straighteners. I do like my hair to be sleek and shiny.

If my left my hair the way it is naturally, it is a poofy kinky frizzy mess. However, i do wnat to go back to nature and have wavy hair but i dont know products to use.

And i dont lie poker straight hair. I put a bit of volume in mine.

What would you recommend as the best hair straighteners?

I have very curly course hair and would like to get a really good pair of straighteners, I did have GHDs which were good but broke just over a year after buying them. Any advice would be appreciated. What would you recommend as the best hair straighteners?
Contact GHD and tell them that they are broken. They might still repair them for free as they're just out of warranty if not they will charge you about 拢20 to repair them.....Beats buying a new pair. You won't find a better brand...I've tried a few different types and I swear by them.

They've replaced mine twice for me now..No questions asked..... God bless GHD!! :)What would you recommend as the best hair straighteners?
GHDS
I have some called kodo which are awsome however for curly hair GHD's might be the answer.
Absolutely GHDs. I have the most unruly hair going and it it makes it dead straight. I shall not ever go with any other brand. So you go out there and buy yourself another.
Hiya. You should have sent the GHD's back to the company, will a letter saying what happened etc (recorded deliv) They would have most definately replaced them.

Again, i would recommend GHDs

x
Well the GHDs and CHI are the most popular one's but that dosn't mean they are the best. I also have curly and I've had the Sedu for a long time and it's great. I'm pretty sure most people will tell you GHDs and CHI are the best but they are not. Go to the website listed under source. That is the Sedu. You can also explore other great sraighteners on this website. Good Luck!!!!!!
chi or taurs is da best
GHD's All The Way ..

they only go up to 180 Degrees where as some go to 250

But they are still the Best you can buy ..

honestly .. they straighten the curlyest hair ina stroke .. the are brilliant .. everyone wants some .. x

i have them and they are great and keep your hair straight for ages .. :D

hope that helps ..

love Me%26amp;Me--xxx
I use Paul Mitchell. Probly about 100-200 bucks.

It's works great. Everyone in my class always asks me how i get my hair so straight.
CHI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!鈥?they are THE best straightner in the world whenever i go to the salon they use chi and trust me i pay for it. a chi is about $200
GHDs
I have REALLY curly hair and found that T3 straighteners are really good because they also dont dry out your hair. I think they are about the same price as GHD's.

http://www.t3straighteners.co.uk/prod_list.asp?catid=26%26amp;gclid=CPGzjKnhp44CFQ0eEgodWXJVZg
ahh GHD's ive been using them for years and they are brilliant, in about 10 seconds they warm up, they beep when hot enough to start straightning, and turn them selves off if u accidently leave them on ! honest id go for GHD, no better i think=)
SCP - Salon Creative Pro

GHD's burn your hair and are very bad.

SCP's = 拢20 - 拢50

or find them cheaper on Ebay.

Good Luck!

(don't forget to use protection spray if you use them every day)
CHI

I've been using mine for four years and it's still in perfect condition. It costs around $100 and I got it from a salon so obviously it's good if they use it.
I just got the new GHD mark 4 and they do curls too as the irons are barrell shaped 拢119.00 from GHD website. You also get a CD and a styling product free.
GHD's are the best you can buy.
i had ghd's and they have lasted for 6 years so i would contact them if they broke after a year as they'd still be under guarantee. no straightner is better then ghd's.

What do you think of Morphy Richards hair straighteners?

If you don't recommed MR, which do you recommend that is better and inexpensive? What do you think of Morphy Richards hair straighteners?
i never heard of them, but all of the girls in my class use ghd,and it really works.good luck.xxxxxx

Is there a major difference between the corioliss and chi hair straighteners?

I just bought a corioliss and its working very well. But I go to school in a place where the weather is very humid and it makes my straight hair turn curly again when i use the regular straighteners. I was wondering if one works better than the other in that type of weather. Is there a major difference between the corioliss and chi hair straighteners?
they are both really good straighteners. i use a chi and i love it. my hair is naturally wavy but when i use the chi it is pin straight and it stays that way all day. maybe you could use herbal essences pin straight hair spray or the anti-humidity hair spray. i use the anti-humidity hairspray currently and it works wonders..it doesnt weigh your hair down at all.

and to answer you question, i believe they work the same in different types of weather. Is there a major difference between the corioliss and chi hair straighteners?
I'm a guy and I use the Chi to straighten my hair when I don't have it in braids. I love it because they can get hotter than any of the others out there and they last for ever. I've had mine for about 2 years now and I've been using it on the highest power.
I have a Chi and I love it as for the humidity i use a Biosilk high gloss for hair and it helps with the frizzes try this on top of straightening your hair
i am not sure What a Coriolis's is but i really like the chi cuz it does stay straight.

What is the best hair straighteners for curly, wavy, frizzy hair?

Chi Turbo

They are really amazing and easy. They straighten your hair really fast even if its really curly, and it makes your hair soft, too. They are expensive, but its totally worth it. I have the one inch but they make a 2 inch as well.
GHD straighteners. The wide plated ones, for frizzy/ afro-carribean hair. Keep your hair straight whatever the weather.
I would say the In-Styler its good they advertise on the tv like all the time.. google it and see the results... good luck

Anyone know? How do gas powered hair straighteners actually work?
are you talking about the cordless ones that you can kind of use to travel with? i used to have one and it flicked on like you were flicking a lighter and it would just start getting hot... not hot enough to actually thoroughly straighten your hair but i was a dancer in high school so it came in handy for touch ups...How do gas powered hair straighteners actually work?
wow, i have no idea! i guess the gas powers it like a car or sumthing, and it heats up..
Damn, There's gas powered Hair straighteners?
    WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT....????

there are no sure thiing as that...there cordless...thats all besides one that plugs in....i mean where did you hear of that???

Are hair Straighteners allowed on planes in a carry on bag?

i am flying for my first time and i don't really know what to do. I looked it up on delta airlines, (that's the airline we are using) but i couldn't find anything about hair straighteners on a carry on bag. I know that you can have it in check luggage biut i don't want to have checked luggage, i plan to just have a carry on bag and a backpack to put under my seat. plz help and any other flying tips. thx!Are hair Straighteners allowed on planes in a carry on bag?
I just flew and carried my flat irons on the plane. It was not a problem so I guess it is ok.Are hair Straighteners allowed on planes in a carry on bag?
depends on the air line... check with the airline you're flying with, they usually have on their website a luggage regulations which shows what you're allowed and not allowed to travel with. Some airports consider the cord on an electric appliance a lethal strangulation weapon.
yea they are really fun about any type of liqud inside of carry on bags its a saftey issue it could be like a bomb of some thing but i am sure that a flat iron would be ok you have to put all luggage through xray machines anyway but i think you should be fine
    Yes lol

What hair straighteners are best for your hair?

Are there specific types/brands of straighteners that work well and don't fry your hair, don't give you split ends, and allow you to keep your hair healthy? What are the names or brands? Also, what are some good hair curling iron types? What hair straighteners are best for your hair?
If you want a great flat iron that lasts it needs to be ceramic. I'd personally, recommend the Chi flat iron. Your hair is silky smooth afterward. As for a curling iron, my personal favorite is the spiral curling iron. You can have perfect ringlets or waves. I'd also suggest using hot rollers for a longer lasting hold. Make sure your curling iron is ceramic too. I can't really give you an exact brand for either a flat iron or a curling iron but I can tell you that the more expensive it is, it's obviously the best of the bunch. I'm not saying to go out and buy a $300 tool but I'm also saying not to buy the $20 tool either. You want to invest in something that will last you especially when you love to style your hair. What hair straighteners are best for your hair?
even though metal straighteners may work better, they are much, much harder on your hair than ceramic ones are. also, you should diffenetly use something to protect your hair before you straighten it. i reccomend ';Got2B crazysleek hot smooth Iron %26amp; Blow Dry Lotion'; and ';Herbal Essences long term relationship leave-in split end protector for long hair';.

What is the best brand of hair straighteners and a reasonable price?

just wondering cause my old broke after 5 years and need some good ones from 拢30 to 拢100 anyone know? What is the best brand of hair straighteners and a reasonable price?
nicky clarkes do good from 25 and ghd are bout hundred nicky clarkes are very good.

GHDS stylers there 拢120 but if you take your old straighterners in there 拢100. Or Normal GHDs
    Hi!

I swear by GHD!!! theyre amazing! x x
GHDs are those which make the hair straightest (in my opinion) but they come on at about 100 quid. At the moment i have tressame ones from Tesco (i take it ur a brit with the pound signs) they are pretty good and are prob the best iv had at about 25 quid. before these i had tony and guy ones which are quite good and they were 25 aswell. have a look at tesco. I would stay away from babyliss ones though. my ones have aways blown up. GhD's have a habit of doing that too though.
obviously ghd are the best, but ive always used Remington, they are great and only cost about 拢30.good luck.
    remington
Try Conair-Platinum!! Around 75$ and works really good!
    Wet 2 Straight $26
ghd . you can get thin ones for normal hair or wide ones for thick hair. you can get them from a hair salon or web site , they start from 拢70 to拢110 but well worth the money.
i use GHD's and personally i think they are the best brand of hair straighteners because my hair is naturally wringlets and if you look at my picture then you will see how straight my hair is lol sadly i dont know how much they cost but they weren;t very expensive xxxxx
i think the ghds r the best they are dear but they are really good nd if your gonna use it alot its worth the money

What is the best brand of hair straighteners?

I need to know because I need a new one! What is the best brand of hair straighteners?
i prefer Conair (both straightener and curler) because its affordable and i like it on my hair. just make sure u get a ceramic one, so it doesnt burn ur hair all the time. :PWhat is the best brand of hair straighteners?
Chi..but they run on the expensive side..
ive been a hair dresser for ten years and i have had alot of luck with

iso manetammer! it really easy on your hair and does a really good job!

this is a chemical strightner is that what your looking for? if not a rusk striaghting iron is great and has a great warranty
    GHD

    Google it

and it dosent damage your hair
I would say that the best brand of hair straightners has got to be GHD's. They are great ceramics. However they can be pricey. You can find them at around about 拢79.99. You can buy them from your local hairdresses or hairsalon. If they aren't for you then try Koko similar in quality yet cheaper.

Good look with your hair and remeber to use hair protection products x
RUSK... dont get CHI they suck and rip your hair out and the plates fall out and burn your head while using them!
    Conair

It gets really really hot so it works wonders.

Just make sure with whatever you get that you choose either ceramic or gold plated.
chi or herstyler. chis are sold everywhere and are amazing, but if you go to herstyler.com, you can c all of the herstylers. they r AMAZINGer. the lady at the mall kiosk 4 them straightened my poofy, frizzy, curly, curly hair with ONE slow stroke of the herstyler. you can also do curls with the herstyler, and it comes in a few different colors and they have an anazing wet-to-dry.however, they cost $300.00!
    Chi...but they are expensive.
SHE hairstraighters..i dont have them but i want them

they are like GHD's but cheaper + hairdressers use them :)

How can I safely and neatly put away my hair straighteners and curling irons?

My room is small with not a whole lot of space. I don't have the plastic packages they came in. I tried putting them in a shoe box (I mean one of those plastic ones), and that didn't work because I have too many hair straighteners and curling irons, and they were too long for the box. So, how else could I safely and neatly put away my hair straighteners and curling irons? How can I safely and neatly put away my hair straighteners and curling irons?
A plastic bag shoved under the bed or plastic under the bed storage bin would be good. Just be sure to wrap the cords so things don't get tangled. How can I safely and neatly put away my hair straighteners and curling irons?
I just leave mine on the bathroom counter...if I need to put it away, I wrap the cord around it and stuff it in the cabinet, haha. I didn't know there was a certain way you were supposed to store them. But, I guess you could kind of stack them on top of each other?
    http://www.folica.com/Folica_Heat_Pro_d1930.html

When i bought my straightener on this website they gave me one free.. but it protects the counter and stuff from the heat and you can just put it in there and not worry about it burning anything
I would leave it out for about five minutes and then wrap it up and thats what i do:D

How do you create curls with hair straighteners?

Apparently you can curl hair with hair straighers but does anyone know how to do it, I alway just end up with flicks!!!How do you create curls with hair straighteners?
Hey, go on www.ghdhair.com and click on Trends. Then click on Looks, and they click on Step by Step techniques. Finally click on curls and it will show you a brilliant video on how to do it. This is how I learnt to do it. :)How do you create curls with hair straighteners?
i always wondered this, but now i know.

there's two ways you can do it. you can wait until the strightener heats up, then seperate your hair into small sections. run the strighteners along the first section, then close them as they reach the end of your hair. roll them up your hair like a curling iron and hold for a few minutes. gently release then strighteners and there should be a curl.

second way. position the strightener as if you were going to strighten your hair. close them tightly and move they straightener down the hair, flipping and rolloing the starightener up as you go. this was the way i was taught.

it also holds better if you spray the hair with a curling lotion or hairspray before you curl, and they hair is not newly washed or dirty.

    Hope that helps.

    love Mel XxX
take the straitening Iron and straiten the hair as usual then run it through the section of hair until you reach the end apply a little more pressure and turn under or outwards....i do not think that you can do any other curling methods w/o a curling iron.
I curl my hair everyday with normal GHD flat straighteners, it is possible lol.

It is really hard to explain what to do, but here goes:

    * Put your straightner at the root of the hair

    * Clip about an inch of hair inside the iron

    * Twist the straightner (with the hair still in it) and drag down

    * Make sure that you keep the hair tight in the straigtner and drag it down quite slow and hard.

    * Before you reach the bottom of the strands of hair, quickly release the hair so you don't split your ends!

This really works, i hope i explained it. I tried my best, it works for me, honestly.

Experiment, i did, and i worked it out babe.

Good Luck, it will look gorg when you've finished x x
Actually I have seen people with the ceramic straightners curl hair before the straighter are a lot more skinnier so its easier for it to make nice curls. I acutally went to the mall and this lady who was selling one of the ceramic straightner demonstrate it to me so yea its a lil expenisve but its worth it.

does flips straightens and curls so yea check it out! hope this helps
i don't know how you do that! but i have seen people do it before.
Its pretty hard to explain to be honest! Wrap a thin bit of hair round the hair straightener really loosely and let go after just a couple of seconds. Alternitavely (don't know how to spell that) you could wrap a thin bit of hair round a pencil and heat it with the straightener by pressing on the hair wrapped round ge pencil.
i know how to do it but its quite hard to explain. but i will try what you do is you put you hair in the straighteners at normal but as you go down you have to twist it. So all of the piece of hair goes through the plates. DON'T LEAVE IT FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES LIKE NORMAL CURLERS. cause you will get a funny curl. you need to just twist and go down the hair straight away! hope that helped! x
    hiya

you CAN do it! even with normal staightners ... and my results end up great!

Get the staightners at the ed of a piece of hair and then wrap the hair around them until it reaches the top - then siply let go !

Do it in only small chunks and if you have thick hair then do it even smaller ones!

Sorry i cant really explain it in words, but ive done my best!

    Just experiment!

    :)
grab a strand of hair straighten it and when u get to the tip twist it but dont tighten it too much leave it twisted a couple of seconds then release and thats it, good luck
I run the straighteners through my hair and twist in a spiral motion. You have to keep the straighteners tight though and go quite slowly and you need some product too.
It works best if u use a curved straightener instead of a normal one.
How to Curl Your Hair With a Hair Straightener

    http://homebeautytips.blogspot.com/2007/鈥?/a>
I'm pretty sure you can't.. To curl it has to be round and straighteners aren't, ever I don't think.

Curling irons are just as expensive as straighteners. And the good thing is, sometimes you can straighten AND curl with a curling iron.

But you can't curl with a straightener.. Unfortunatley.

What are the best make of hair straighteners?

What is the best hair straighteners to use? I have long, thick hair which is frizzy. I want to be gentle if possible as my hair is dry. Any suggestions?

Anything to definatly avoid? What are the best make of hair straighteners?
I have a pair of hair straighteners that work well but take ages to straighten my hair. I'm also worried about the damage it does to my hair even though it looks good. I've been looking around at the market for a new pair and am still entirely unsure as to which one to get. Everyone seems to recommend the GHD, have a look at this site and see which one will suit you, it also lists other user's views:

http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews.phpWhat are the best make of hair straighteners?
Chi is the best. Go and get one at H.E.B. At any other store the price would range from $150-$190. But there it is only $122. Plus, sometimes you get a special where you get Chi hair products free with a purchase of a Chi. Hope this helps!
ghds. i would not be without mine for all the tea in china!

they may be pricey but they will last you years and take all the effort out of straightening.
I use revlon thick straightner. My hair is extremely thick to a point where I break every pony tail holder after one use. They by far have worked the best for me and my hair is still healthy and they don't cost more than twenty dollars.
GHDs!! My hair sounds the same as yours and take my word for it the only straighteners that work are GHDs. I have spent a fortune on other makes in the past and they have been a waste of money! If you search the Internet you can get a new pair for about 拢80.00
If you want the best, I'm afraid to say GHD are the best - but expensive.

but to keep your hair in good condition make sure you use a heat protection spray!

Are you talking about chemical straighteners or electrical? I use the paul mitchell flat iron. it is great!
GHDs are the way forward, but on a budget look for something with a temperature of 200 degrees or more. Try babylis.
iron it or hot comb or flat iron it all three have work for me
My hair is thick, wavy and frizzy. I recently bought babyliss elegance pro from boots (拢50) and they are brilliant. I would recommend these if you don't have the money to spend on ghd's.
CHI is the absolute best! They're pretty expensive, though.

    - Elizabeth -
    GHD's all the way :) My hair is curly, %26amp; GHD's work wonders for me. People will say CHI's are better, which they really aren't, they're just on the same wavelength %26amp; cost more. I'd defo. recommend GHD's. If you're gonna start straightening your hair, a few tips;

    1. Deep condition your hair at least once a week. You can buy sachets of deep conditioner from places such as Boots %26amp; Superdrug for 99p

    2. Whilst your hair is wet, always remember to apply a heat protection spray to your hair, to prevent major damage to your hair. I find Tresemme heat protection is the best

    3. For maximum results, also apply a straightening balm to your hair whilst wet. I would defo. recommend Beyond the Zone- Straight Shot. It's 拢5, %26amp; lasts a lifetime!

If you can't afford GHD's, still buy products to keep your hair in condition, %26amp; aim for a more cheaper pair of straighteners, however make sure you pick some with ceramic plates, else your hair get completely destroyed.

    Hope this helps. X
CHI are the best, expernsive, but they work awesome. Best brand out there!
GHD's are the best although expensive. babyliss are ok for cheaper ones
CHI OR BED HEAD ! CHI IS LIKE $150
    GHD, obviously.

mine have lasted like 3 years and they make your hair shiny and soft aswell (:
morphy richards do some good straightners i find them second best to ghds as i cant justify paying that much for a pair of ghds
I have used straightners for years and many different brands. The best by far is remmington, i bought them from argos for 30 quid and they have lasted me for 2 yrs, i am still using them now. They arent thin ones either they are larger, which makes straightening quicker.

You can't really put a figure on that. Material prices for manufacturers would be lower then what you an I would get. The machinery to make them is different also then you have the labour of making them.

It would be impossible to know

What are some hair straighteners you would recommend for fine, frizzy hair?

I've heard bad reviews on the InStyler and the price is very high. I'm trying to find a good hair straightener for my hair type in stores. My hair type is fine and frizzy. I don't want to go crazy on how much I'd spend on one (no higher than 30 if at all possible). I hate when straighteners have that burning smell and damage your hair. What are some hair straighteners you would recommend for fine, frizzy hair?
I'd save up a bit for an 80-90 dollar one. they are for the most part better quality. Try CHI, they have wonderful hair straighteners. I used to have one myself. But now I have a Remmington? I think. It's works nicely and was about 30 when I purchased it about a few months ago.

Hope this helps:)!What are some hair straighteners you would recommend for fine, frizzy hair?
Even if they do not give off the horrible smell of burning hair, it is still damaging your hair. It is pressing your hair in between two hot metal plates and it crushes your hair down burning it and causing damage later on.

The best way to ';straighten'; hair, is this method I do all the time (and i get compliments on my hair all the time, and people ask what kind of straightener I use.)

When I get out of the shower, I towel dry my hair. I then brush it out really good to get rid of the tangles. I then towel dry some more, brush one more time then get out the blow dryer. I go over my head real quick with the blow dryer then I take my brush and pull down one section and blow dry it. I keep doing this to my whole head about 3 times and then after that, my hair is beautiful.

Also your shampoo reflects on how your hair looks when dried. I use head and shoulders because it does reduce frizz and it keeps it down.

I hope I helped and this way you don't have to waste money on a straightener and you get way better results. Again, I hope I helped :)
I have the same problem you have. My hair is naturally straight but gets frizzy and the ends get poofy. I have heard good things about babyliss, chi, ghd, and solia. Unfortunately, like most of the world, I don't have enough money to spend on that stuff. That would be a whole paycheck and I have other things to spend my money on like rent and my car payment and groceries. Apparently lots of people have money to burn because lots of people own them and recommend them. I don't really get it... But yea, if you have the money to burn, I'd suggest that. You also need to remember to use a heat protector and brush the tangles out of your hair before you straighten it. I heard a good heat protector is tresemme. Or CHI iron guard. I think Redken has a good one, too.
first of all: you wont find a normal straightner for under 30, unless you would like your hair ruined

also, all straightneners smell, sorry and it will burn your hair unless you use heat protectant

i suggest go with bedhead straighteners, theyre really good.

if you werent worrying about price, i would recommend CHI. they are the best high quality, but very expensive.
it is almost impossible to get a good one for under 30$! those all have metal plates, and WILL damage your hair, no matter what. a good one would be ceramic plates which could be anywhere from 60-200$ (watch for ceramic coated! those are just metal ones coated in ceramic, they arent much better than metal plates!) \there is also a new type out called Ionic. I have one. Im not sure what the plates are made out of, but it uses a new technology that doesnt damage your hair, its actually good for it! They are quite expensive, but are compleltly worth it, and work on all types of hair! I would die without mine! They are probably 100 at the lowest possible, i got mine for 250 when they first came out a few years ago online. If you search ebay or kijiji u might be able to find a good deal. Mine is a Bio-Ionic iSmooth. thats what i would recommend if u dont mind spending the extra money.

    good luck! :)
You're probably not going to find a decent straightener for under $30.

If you want high quality, you're going to have to drop some more money.

I use a CHI flatiron, and I've been using it for two years now. My avatar picture shows me with my hair straight and I've always been told how good it looks :]

I've also heard GHDs and Sedu straighteners are very good. All of them run from $100-$200, though. You should make an investment--it'll be worth it.

Ceramic straighteners are best (like the CHI)--they don't damage your hair as much and work better than metal-plate straighteners.
I knoe you only want too spend 30 dollars but really try too buy a chi straightner for at least 70.00 it's absolutely worth it .i always used like conair and my hair would straighten but take forever. With a chi straightner your hair is done 10X faster and looks alot better.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use heat protectent too.

So take my advise and invese for a high price one it's really worth all the money and last a LONG time

%26amp;%26amp; my friend got the InStyler and she said it doesn't really work ?But yeah.Hope you take my advise!! =]]
i used to have that problem with that burning smell and dammaging your hair you cant commpletly get away from that though but the wet to straight hair straightner that i have work really well nd doesnt dammage your hair.. as much but when you do use a straightner you need to take extra good care of your hair because it will always damage your hair some.

    hope i helped!!
    Wet to Straight,

    by Remmington.

    Only about 25 dollars,works great.(:

But, I don't think you're going to find a straightener that does have a burning smell and whatnot. Buy a flat iron protector to go along with it(: That'll also keep your hair straight all day. Well, it does for me. And my hair is very frizzy and very wavy. And it STAYS straight. I love it!
I agree with some of the other posters - if you want a really good one, save up and get a Chi. I have one and I love it (got it on Amazon pretty cheap, too). However my old one was a 1 inch Revlon that was super cheap and honestly it works pretty good on fine, frizzy hair. You really should use a heat protector, though. If you want a good cheapie, Tresemme has a spray on that is under $5.
I don't know if you have herd of Remington but I love their hair straightener. Its cheap for about 20 bucks at Walmart and does and amazing job. I have had it for about 3 years now and no problems at all. It is the ';Wet to Straight'; one. You can straighten your hair while its wet but I personally don't do that.

    I hope this Helps.

    Jessica
I have a ceramic Conair straightener and it works fine on my hair without making it frizzy. It was only about 12 dollars, I think. Make sure you get a ceramic one. And use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.

There are many different brands, types, and qualities of hair-straighteners. My cousin has Conair, and it works ok for her, though she has to straighten her hair a few times before it's actually really straight. ( she has black hair) I think that cost about $50.

I have the Maxiglide, which works VERY well for me. ( I have mixed hair between black and white) I think you could buy it by itself for $80 but I'm NOT sure so check out the website for it that I'm putting below. I believe the cost for this straightener is REALLY worth it!

    http://www.maxiusbeauty.com/product.php?鈥?/a>

Also, I got package 4, but from experience I suggest getting package 1, because the rest of the things are just over-rated, really. I don't neccesarily regret buying the other stuff but you don't really need it.

Also if you go to the top where it says shipping policy it has all the info on shipping costs and rush-order/ ect.

    Hope I helped!
CHI's do not last long. They break way too easily. Don't waste your money, and don't listen to the one's that are telling you it's the best. Sedu is one of the best straighteners out there and it is only $100.

To purcase a Sedu at the cheapest price, go to Folica.com , scroll to the very top and click on Hair Styling. On the left hand side, there will be and A - Z brand list. Find Sedu, click on it, and everything else from there is self - explanitory.

For more information on a Sedu, you can go to sedubeauty.com.

I would also recommend using a 1 inch instead of 1 1/2 inch, because the 1 1/2 doesn't do curls very well.

It reaches 410 degrees, with tempature control if you would like a lower tempature. CHI does not have tempature control. That means if the set tempature is too high for your hair, it can fry.

Celebrities have nice hair, and they don't use CHI. They use Sedu. There is something called Sedu hairstyles on every beauty website. No CHI hairstyles right?

    Never use on wet hair.

Also, on Folica.com, people can post reviews on products after they have tried them. Here are they stats on CHI:

72 people say it is 1 star (bad) out of out of 1257 total reviews.

    Sedu:

24 people say it is 1 star (bad) out of 3814 total reviews.

    That speaks for itself!

If your hair starts to get damaged, turn down the tempature.

    Take a look at this.

    http://www.folica.com/appliances/straigh鈥?/a>

Note how CHI is number 7.

Note how GHD is number 4.

Sedu is the top flat iron and there is proof!

Or if you want something a little cheaper but also is still better than the CHI, get a Solia, it is second in line to the Sedu.
Straighteners can cost from 15 to 200 dollars depending on the brand and quality. I think the decent ones start at about $60 or $70 if you're not looking for Chi or a special designer brand. If your hair is very curly then I recommend you invest in a nicer one, because it will last longer and work better.
you can get a flat iron that costs between $20-$200.it just depends on what your budget is.

I have a conair flat iron that I paid $30 for it works great.I have very coarse, curly and unruly hair. You really dont have to spend $100 dollars on a flat iron.just get one with a large ceramic plate something like 2'; you might need a smaller one 1'; for precision straightening.I need to use a small plate for the hair right at my hairline in front because its shorter and has very tight curls.
well it depends on the brand

    http://www.folica.com/appliances/straightener.htm?s_cid=yakwd872%26amp;GCID=S31334x003%26amp;keyword=best+hair+straighteners%26amp;OVRAW=best%20hair%20straighteners%26amp;OVKEY=best%20hair%20straighteners%26amp;OVMTC=standard%26amp;OVADID=3555130512%26amp;OVKWID=39711042012

these are some of the best straighteners
you can go to your local drug store and purchase one, but if your hair is super curly you are probably not going to get the results you desire. if you're willing to make an investment buy a more expensive straightener developed for curly hair. (chi makes a great one about $100)
depends on the brand..higher quality such as ghd, folica, maxiglide, corioliss and chi are about $100-250 but if you buy something from the drugstore they are about $20-30. i suggest that you get a better quality one and make sure it is ceramic. they work alot better, last longer, and are worth the money.
Chi would work great with your hair but they are around 150-200$ but its worth it because they work so great they last long .

i did my mother in laws hair with it and she tongan and she has really tight small curls and its veary thick and her hair was flat but not flat like paper but u couldnt even tell she had curly hair

so i say go with CHI

my hair is really curly and i streighten my hair and my straightener cost $30 and i have had it for atleat 3 years and there had been no problem wiht it...
they cost different princes if u want a little cheap one real fast is about 10-20 dollars if u want a nice one and works real well dewy go from 30-75 i payed 160 darts because I'm a hairstylist and mine its used for professionals
Mine cost about $35. It says Titanium Tools on it so I guess that what brand it is. It works really well. I have very curly hair and it get it super stright. I got it at Sally's.
i have one that i got in a mall in a kiosk thats almost the same as the chi, it cost about 100 on sale but it was normally 200.
Chi straighteners are $120-200 depending on where you buy it, but if you go to a salon they usually have returns and they're half price.
well you can get an awsome chi one for over $100 that works wonders!!! my bestie has CURLY hair and goes stick straight in 10 minutes
10 + go to cvs they have realy cheap ones there if ur looking for an cheep one!
if your hair is really curly then you will probably need a chi and i got my chi for 90$ at the mall
    Depends on the brand...

    $10-$30....

    Hope this helped...
um depends what kind you want. they can vary. i own a chi flat iron and i LOVE IT it was 100 something dollers. good luck

I use the CHI iron it works wonders on my thick hair I can stretch a perm out for bout a month with that thing if u can't afford that get any Ceramic straightner they work the best also try Gold %26amp; Hot products they work goodWhat are good hair straighteners for African Americans?
if you hair is coarse you might need to get it pressed first then use a straightener that has a dail were you can turn the heat all the way up they usually work better conair is a good brand ther have a straightener that is a curler also it looks like a curling iron but then opens up into a straightener and the dail goes up to 25 or get a red plated straightener i belive its conair also and the heat goes up to 400
No offense, but NO ONE WHITE, UNLESS, THEY KNOW SOMEONE BLACK REALLY WELL SHOULD ANSWER THIS QUESTION.......LOL YOUR HAIR IS SO DIFFERENT. They are two really good brands of (perms- black folk straighteners) out right now.... they don't really burn or smell bad and the help the frizzy a lot... one is Botanicals, and the other is Olive Oil. The Olive oil seems the best to my family, friends and co-workers. It makes your hair feel silky. Perms also depend on where you live.... humid states... try the olive oil first. up north maybe botanicals will be okay for you.
I would think that your hair straightener wouldnt be much different than one a caucasian person uses. Maybe just one with a higher heat but of course that just damages your hair. I use a Wigo and it works really great, it gets REALLY hot. It was $80. I would recommend buying a heat protectant product if you're going to buy one and use it often so it burns the product before your hair.
    I have no ideal - i am a guy , sorry

What is the difference and function of 1'; hair straighteners and 2'; hair straightners?

I was shopping for hair straighteners yesterday because my old one broke finally and I noticed that most hair straighteners are 1'; now. I've always used 2'; wide plates so I'm just wondering what is the difference? I have very thick wavy hair so I assumed that wider plates would be better but now I'm curious what the real difference and function of different sized plates are. What is the difference and function of 1'; hair straighteners and 2'; hair straightners?
    i have both,

the 1'; get closer to the roots. they also straighten better.

the 2'; are way faster, but dont eliminate frizz as well.

    if you have enough time for your hair, then choose 1';

if your in a hurry, 2';What is the difference and function of 1'; hair straighteners and 2'; hair straightners?
1 inch is better for your hair, because the straightener isn't over it for as long. However with thick, curly hair you should use a 2 inch because you would need to straighten it a bit more anyway. 1 inch is mainly for girls with straight hair who want it straight-er... or for girls with curly hair who don't mind spending more time straightening. 1 inch is also easier to curl with.
The basic difference is for the length of your hair. If someone has a full - long set of locks then you want the 2';. If you hair is shorter then the 1'; is the best bet. The smaller one just makes it easier for you to get to the scalp with shorter hair.
There isn't much of a difference. If you have thicker hair, go for 2 inch. Different sizes are just better for different hair.
with 1'; you can curl hair too...other than that, there's not too much of a difference

How do I straighten my hair without using hair straighteners?

I am going on a school trip and we are not allowed to use staightners! My hair is frizzy so I do not want to look like a poodle for the school trip! How do I straighten my hair without using hair straighteners?
comb it mabye.... how will they know if u bring harstraighteners???.... or use a serum. How do I straighten my hair without using hair straighteners?
my hair is like yours too, about a year ago I went and got a cellophane treatment, and basically it's a chemical that you put in your hair once and you leave it in for 3 days and then your done and you have nice straight hair. Like after you come out of the shower you and go to work without drying it because its gonna dry nice and straight. The chemical doesn't damage the hair, or let's say you have your hair dyed, it doesn't wash away the hair dye out, and your hair will stay perfect for about 3 - 6 months, but the treatment can be a bit pricey.
    :o not allowed straighteners?

take a hairdryer with you and blow dry it straight which is quite hard.

    or.

leave it to dry naturally every day. your hair must need a break from straightening. just brush it back and tie it up and then use a headband if you have a fringe.

    or.

smuggle straighteners with you? unless you're camping or something ridiculous and you have no plug sockets i'm sure they can't stop you using them. then again maybe you shouldn't.

i'd take lots of hairspray as well, to keep fuzziness in place. have fun on the trip. : )
well i'm sorry to say this, but it's not really possible :\

instead of straightening it let your hair be curly/ wavy by taking a shower the night before, put Pantenne curling moose, let your hair airdry overnight, and when you get up in the morning don't brush it b/c that is what will make it frizzy.

instead comb you hair with your fingers and ta da! your hair looks gorgeous......almost like beach waves....well my hair looks that way when i do it :)

hope i helped and good luck.
well, i say that when you take a shower comb it and blow dry it or you can use moose and then straight it with a comb. i staighten my hair with a straightener so this is all i really have

What brands make really good hair straighteners/ how much ?

I am half white and half black so i need a powerful hair straightener any suggestions? What brands make really good hair straighteners/ how much ?
If your hair is strong minded and need lots of convincing to make it go straight, don't waste your money on half-*** straighteners. You'll eventually stop using it because it'll take too long and won't deliver the result you are after.

You cannot go wrong with GHD straightening iron($300 or so) or Silver Bullet has adjustable temperature for doing porous damaged hair that doesn't need high temperature.

You can get different sized irons, mini for fringe, wide plates for doing looong hair, or regular size.

Good thing about the regular size is that you can also use it to give the famous ';ghd curl';. You can also flick your hair or do your fringe. It's even slim enough to use it on short hair.

If you aren't interested in creating any curl or using on short hair, then I suggest going for the wide plate because it'll be faster. What brands make really good hair straighteners/ how much ?
Try the BaByliss Pro Nano Titanium. It comes in a range of plate widths: 1 1/4 inches, 1 1/2 inches and 1 3/4 inches.

It has extended plates, in fact the longest plates ever manufactured on a straightener and reaches temperatures of 450 degrees. The titanium ceramic plates are really good to use on your hair as well.

DON'T buy CHI hair straighteners. If you read reviews on them, they have a tendency to break very easily.

Here is a website that has the BaByliss one:

    www.folica.com

Just type babyliss into the search box and it will come up.

You will also notice it has fantastic reviews.
i have insanely thick, curly hair and you have to be willing to spend a little extra money on a straightener. Get one of the ones that have adjustable temperature things, also the wet to dry straighteners are pretty good even if your hair isn't wet (i've never done my hair wet it takes way too long then)

i have the remington wet 2 straight one, and it works wonders--it actually keeps my hair straight all day even if i'm outside and it's humid my hair doesn't get frizzy or poofy...unless it gets wet of course lol

and it was about 35 dollars for it

you can get them at wal*mart, jewel osco, walgreens, and depending on quality be prepared to spend at least 35 dollars.

YOUcan probably get them at other places too but that's just what i was able to come up with so far.

    hope that helped!!
I don't hear very good things about the Chi. I just ordered myself a Sedu (1 1/4 inch) but I haven't used it yet so I couldn't tell you how it works. yes, at this store called brookstone, they have one and it converts into any charger type in the world, so ya you just need a converter
You should get a converter to be on the safe side or lower the heat on your flat iron. If not you could really damage your hair due to the fact that the voltage increases international

I would recommend the Wigo. I have had one for 1 year and a half and its still going strong. It's really awesome, it heats up fast and works amazing. You can straighten while your hair is still damp too. It really gets the job done. I've had ConAir before and the Wigo is a luxury compared to the Wigo it's awesome. There are a couple options on the page. I got a pink one from ulta, I'm not sure what kind it is. But here is a page of different wigo's.

I hope it works out for you =)What are some good working hair straighteners?
There is no straightener that is good for your hair. Straigheners cause mechanial and heat damage. The best you can do it buy heat protectent sprays and spray it on your hair before you straighten it. The straightener that i would recommend is the CHI. I have had one for the past 3 years, and it is amazing. It keeps my hair straight all day long. The spray that i would recommend for you would be CHI and it is the heat protectent spray. The straightener is now prob. between $100-$120 and i think the spray is about $13
I'm not sure entirely of what products you have where you are, but I find Remington straighteners are really decent and are a good substitute for GHD's. I have quite coarse hair and my Pro and Shine ones' do a good job and have a variable heat control. I bought them in the sale for 拢30 reduced from 拢70, so that's near your budget I'm guessing?
i have very curly hair and i use bed head straightener and blow dryer and shampoo and everything lol..I use to use chi but I ove bed head so much more. they warm up so fast. and it makes my hair straight for the day!! thier straightening surum is amazing too :)
i have a ';jilbere de paris tourmaline series'; flat iron, and it works really good, considering that i naturally have corbin bleu hair... lol

i only paid like $90 dollars for it at sallys

the origional CHI right now is about 90$

its probebly the best straightener ever :D

also the ISO is really good, but more expensive
Try to find a ceramic ISO or ceramic CHI, for that price, you should be able to find one.

How long do good ceramic hair straighteners last?

I'm thinking of getting a good ceramic hair straightener like the chi, solia, sedu, etc (I'm leaning towards the chi). I was wondering how long they last because they are pretty expensive. So if anybody knows how long they usually last, please respond. Thanks!!!How long do good ceramic hair straighteners last?
chi is the best brand...mostly all hair stylists i talk with suggest it...i personally use CHI...ive been using that brand for 5 years...it never failed me. it is worth the money...if you are worried about the cost, go on ebay, thats where i got my second one(i stepped on the first)..jus make sure you are saving money not paying more...good luck! How long do good ceramic hair straighteners last?
get the chi its the best and last a long time
as long as you take care of them and dont drop them especially while they are on(thats how i broke mine)
Well it pretty much depends on how often you use it and how well you take it. I use mine almost everyday and I'm not that hard on it and I usually have to buy a new one every 1 year 1/2- 2years.
I have a really good chi one. Ive had it for 2 years and its still working great
I beleive they last for about 2 to 3 years. All beauty salons are using them now.
Well we own all kind of brands and really it all depends on how careful you are, dont drop them clean them regularly , dry almost completly your hair before using one. Store it in its box when cold and all that good stuff. Get a warranty . CHI gives you 3 years , which is really good becuase all others are 1 year. Now if you buy one from Sally beauty supply , buy their warranty too ($5) so if anything happens they will replace it or fix it. I know their brands are not professional but they are coming better and better and in fact i have a couple of stylists here that have Sallys Jibere flat irons forever. Consider we use them a lot more that you will do on yourself.

What's the best product to use with hair straighteners that actually keeps your hair straight?

I've tried loads of different products but I always end up with hair that looks a mess within a few hours. What can I use to achieve that sleek, straight look that will last? What's the best product to use with hair straighteners that actually keeps your hair straight?
This is what I do, and it seems to work pretty well:

    1. Spray hair with a heat-protecting spray, such as Tresseme Heat Tamer Spray, and brush your hair.

    2. Put half of your hair up with a clip [so you have a top layer and a bottom layer], and straighten the bottom half. As you finish a section [left side, right side, back, bangs, etc.] lightly spray with hairspray. That's the key to keeping it straight! Take the top layer of hair out of the clip, straighten it, and spray.

Another thing that helps is to use a large paddle brush while you straighten it. It's flat so it won't round the ends of your hair. Hope this helps! What's the best product to use with hair straighteners that actually keeps your hair straight?
    Welcome :]

What I do: After washing my hair, I blow-dry it straight with a round brush, then put some leave-in conditioner. Then, I spray some conditioning spray on my hair and straighten it with a flat iron. After that I put a little more (just a little!) leave-in conditioner, and I spray hairspray on my brush, and comb my hair. Then I spray my hair with aresol hairspray (which actually isn't bad for the enviroment anymore!) EVERYWHERE. As in like, not just on the top layers, but I lift up my layers and spray under them, etc. (Do this everwhere except your roots, that'll give you volume). Then I run my hands over my hair, flattening it down.

    It works for me!
my mother has extremely thick hair, so she bought a product from sally's beauty supplies that called cholesterol (it's not a bad as it sounds, it makes hair super straight and it even has a nice scent). i makes your hair a lot less course and dry, so it is much easier to maintain and straighten.

and after you straigten your hair, you should use non-aersol (to help the environment) hairspray. they are lots of products in drugstores that make your hair look natual and not stiff.
I like Loreal Studio Line and I use Dangerously Straight shampoo and conditioner by Herbal Essences all the time. The shampoo and conditooner doesn't make it straight, but it gets rid of a lot of frizz and makes it smooth and ready for straightening. I also use Dangerously Straight Flat Iron Spray while and after I straighten.
I use a conditioning spray (to keep from burning my hair) and it also keeps it sleek and strait for HOURS and usually a couple of days in a row. My sister does hair and turned me on to it. My hair is outrageously thick and has lots of body, so straightening it wasn't very easy before. Sounds so simple, but it really works for me.
bed head products work whether u want straight curly or wavy hair, they have a product for every hair type and they work great!
the best product i used even in a rainy day is Carita hair straightener IT amazing also matrix straight hair cream with the shampoo and conditioner
i dont think is products that keeps it straight but how u use the straighteners .
i use label.m relaxing balm . i apply to my hair when just washed and comb it through. then for best results i dry one section of my hair at a time with the nozel on , on a low heat .

    hope this helps !! xx
tresseme, nicky clarke work for me
after straightening with the chi straightner I use garnier fructis sleek and shine anti frizz serum.... I have really frizzy hair and I love this
I have heard that Chi oil is really good. Stay away from Rusk products and sunsilk. They DON'T work
PUT SOME MILK IN A SPRAY BOTTLE. Spray on the hair when damp, and leave for 20 minutes. Then rinse off with shampoo. This straightens the hair and give it a shine.

i got this tip from more magazine (actually i was in the hospital and tore the piece out and took it home)

before straightening slightly, only slightly spray you hair (in sections obviously) with a mist of hairspray and that keeps your sleek look for longer. its cheap and it works for me. but sometimes, i use wax afterwards just to kind of seal it. expensive products really don't work, honestly.
i use this product called bodiphier...www.freshlookhair.com...go to that website. its suppose to make your hair silky, shiny, soft, smooth, and definetly ratless!! it stays straight all day, through the humid and hot days...rain...well itll be a little wavy if you get it wet. try it...itll work...i use it...i promise!! = ]... if you dont agree with me then im sorry for wastin your time...= [

Are salon hair straighteners a culprit for my difficulty in breathing?

Yesterday, I had my hair straightened- as I had before, but unlike before, I have difficulty breathing now. My throat feels like it's tightening up, but other than that, I'm fine. I'm afraid that it may have been the fumes I inhaled from the straightening chemical, but the last time I had my hair straightened, this did not happen. They used this Lo'real straightener that comes in a pink tube. Please tell me what I can do to remedy this. Thanks! Are salon hair straighteners a culprit for my difficulty in breathing?
go talkto a doctor about it, for medical advice, please :S

Why do hair straighteners come in different widths?

My 13 year old daughter asked for a hair straightener as a birthday present. She has long straight hair but likes it straighter. I went to buy one for her but found that they come in different widths. Which width is best? Why do hair straighteners come in different widths?
    1'; is the standard size.

Any other shorter sizes (3/4';, 1/2'; etc) help straighten curly roots and such. Also, thinner iron sizes makes it easier to flip, curl, etc. (Detail work)

Larger Iron sizes speeds up straightening time for people who do not have extremely curly roots/ethnic hair. This would help your daughter straighten her hair faster.

I suggest the 1';. it's the mot versatile.

You can buy them for cheaper at beautychoice.comWhy do hair straighteners come in different widths?
there really isn't a specific reason, i'm assuming they thought people would buy wider ones because it would straighten quicker but with all my experience with straighteners it's a lot better to have a thiner plate on the straightener, try an inch or so. it damages your hair to go over it again and again with a wide one so the smaller ones make you section your hair in smaller sections where you only have to go over the hair once.
I like 2 inch ones but i have a 1 inch and they both work well. I like the 2 inch because you get more hair so it doesn't take as long. I would suggest 1 inch for thinner hair and either for thick but I have thick and like my 2 inch(yeah sorry i repeated myself a few times).
Depends on her hair. The very narrow straightener are for very curly, kinky hair that needs a lot of thought to straighten. A wider straightener is for hair that can be straightened easily.
They come in different widths for certain lengths of hair. I'd get the widest straightener they have. It will take her less time to straighten her hair because the hot plates are bigger and cover more hair.
if her hair is at her shoulders or longer then a wider hair straightener would work better. thinner ones are for people with shorter hair because they dont have as much hair and the wider ones straighten more hair.
For long hair get the wider one, it gets more hair then the smaller ones!
    Well, I prefer thin ones.

Like one inch, I think ?

Like the size of a Chi or a GHD.

Is her hair thick or thin ?

  • How to create messy natural waves with hair straighteners?

I've tried soo many different ways of making my hair wavy, and the closest I get is weird looking stiff kinks or curled tips.

I have medium length hair with lots of layers.

Any tips? How to create messy natural waves with hair straighteners?
    I also have medium length hair with loads of layers, and I prefer not to subject my hair to heat at all. Honestly, I've tried and tested EVERY way I could find to get loose, beachy waves and this is my favourite;

Wash hair thoroughly with your regular shampoo/condition, then (instead of causing breakage to hair by viciously rubbing it with a towel) pat your head with a towel, gently taking sections of hair and squeezing them to remove excess water.

Then, I used three dollops of volume mouse (Tresemme), about the size of an egg (you can adjust this to your hair type) and scrunch it thoroughly through my hair.

Splitting my hair in to two large sections, I take each section and twist it around my finger or with my hands until it begins to twist on itself and form a bun.MAKE SURE TO LEAVE YOUR LAYERS OUT OF THESE BUNS!

I tie this with a hair bobble or pin with kirby grips/bobby pins. I do this for both sides, and then spray each thoroughly with Lee Stafford Beach Babe Sea Salt Spray. (About 拢5 from Boots.)

And finally, and I get a good night's sleep, wake up, undo the buns and run my fingers through the waves. Sometimes mine are still damp, but letting them air dry allows them to form even better without frizzing!

This works for me every time, hope this helps! :DHow to create messy natural waves with hair straighteners?
that is the problem (the kinks and stuff). you will need a strightener that has curved edges on both sides of the metal or a curling iron that is about 1 inch around.

    1. take a small pinch of hair (1/2 inch) curl it half way up (leave some straight hair at the top) and

    2. release slowly letting the curl fall out of the grip of your iron.

    3. spray with flexible hairspray.

you can mess with the hair after you are done to get a new look, not just a bunch of sprial curls all over your head.

if you want wavy without spiral curls,

    A. do step 1 and 2 above and then

    B. use the same chunk of hair and curl it the opposite way -

    C. THEN spray lightly.

this will give a wavy type look to your hair.

also get some ideas from this website. it has so many options. great site!! good luck and look beautiful!

How do I clean residue off my hair straighteners without blowing myself up?

I have a pair of Tresemme ceramic smooth hair straighteners and there is some styling product residue burnt onto the ceramic plates...I have tried all the obvious things but I am scared of damaging the smooth plates...any suggestions? How do I clean residue off my hair straighteners without blowing myself up?
make sure they are cold you can used methylated spirits or white spirits using a j cloth or an old piece of cotton cloth leave it for a few minutes to soak in then just wipe off if you do it regularly this will prevent build upHow do I clean residue off my hair straighteners without blowing myself up?
You won't damage them. Just get some surgical spirit which you can buy at any chemist and a cotton ball and hey presto, all clean!!
Turn them off so they are just warm and then wipe with a really damp cloth. A bit of moisture will not damage them.
Make sure they are unplugged and use a damp (not wet) cloth.
    Burn.

What are the best hair Straighteners for men with thick and curly hair?

I want to invest in some hair Straighteners as I am sick of my afro style locks (If left I would end up with a Marge Simpson type hair do!) What are the best ones to get? And will they damage my hair if I use them daily? What are the best hair Straighteners for men with thick and curly hair?
ghd's are probably the best for your hair as they come in different sizes.....What are the best hair Straighteners for men with thick and curly hair?
With thick, curly hair, you should definitely invest in the best, ie GHD or equivalent, as cheap straighteners that don't reach 200 degrees or more are going to have little effect, and non-ceramic is going to destroy your hair. They are pretty expensive, but I think you get your money's worth. If your hair is short then you can get thinner straighteners like the ones shown here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GHD-MARK-4-IV-MENS鈥?/a> You will probably find that you wouldn't have to straighten your hair daily, perhaps every other day. To minimise damage to your hair it is advisable to use some sort of heat protection product. My favourite was the GHD barrier spray which cost about a tenner, but there are loads to choose from. Also, perhaps you could use a shampoo which relaxes curls, just to give your hair a head start!
    I would say GHD's.

You can get certain models that fit your hair type.

And I know for deffinate, there are some that have been made especially for thick, curly hair.

They should be roughly what your looking for.

    There a good brand.

About the damagin. All straightens will damage your hair in one way or another, there drying it out.

But you can buy GHD products which you spray on your hair while straightening which really reduces it.

I use GHD's daily and my hair is just as healthy as anyone else's.

    Hope that helps.
the best Straightener ive come across are by FHI, i use them daily in work for at times an hour, GHD's are good Straighteners, but are over rated and over priced. http://www.salon-sales.co.uk/productcat.asp?prodtypeid=6%26amp;prodtype=Hair%20straighteners%20and%20Curling%20tongs%26amp;prodcat=%26amp;prodcatname=%26amp;type=1%26amp;thismd=5640#5640 you can get them at a reduced price at this address
    I use GHDS - http://www.ghdhair.com/uk/

In my opinion they are the best, all the hairdressers use them.

I have thick curly, hair and they seem to be the only Straighteners that work!

    Men use them aswell.

You will be safe using them daily as long as you use a heat protector spray, I have Tresemme heat tamer spray, its really good - http://www.tresemme.com/heat/products/heat-tamer-protective-spray.aspx

    hope this helps : )
Hey the best ones are GHD's and they come in guy versions! but if you hair is as thick as you say then i would just go for the lady ones probably hotter and work better lol.

I use my GHD's everyday and they dont do any damage as long as you use a heat defence spray that you can buy in boots chemist. Treseme is the best!

Good luck and hope you tame that mane lol.

What are some natural hair straighteners I can make at home?

Like I have heard of Cathi House but I want something that I can make at home that will straighten my hair like a chemical perm! Please help! I dont want the hot comb either! What are some natural hair straighteners I can make at home?
Hmm.. there isn't much you can do. But try moisturizing your hair properly and combing/brushing it immediately after washing your hair. Also, brush your hair before going to sleep every night. You can try avacado to soften up the hair... but that'll only make it better.

The best thing you can do is straighten your hair with a hair iron (clothes iron sometimes works as well, but be careful not to burn yourself!).What are some natural hair straighteners I can make at home?
CHI ,GHD and Instyler are all good ,but i don't know which will fit for your hair . CHI and GHD will make your hair to straight and looks natural ,however , Instyler will make your hair looks shinier and bouncier .

il let you in on a big secret!!! buy some broken ones from ebay, send them of to the address on box stating that they blew up on you and that you brought them bout 11 months ago ( any thing under a year) from any salon you no that sells them and they will send you new ones with no questions asked!!! trust me!! my mate done this, then her mum, then i broke mine by getting in an arguement with my partner and smashing them!!! so i thought id give it a go, said they blew up which made me jump and i dropped them!!!! and within two weeks i got a brand new pair tho the post!!! i was well chuffed because mine were 3 years old!!, brought a broken pair of ebay since and done the same in my new address and got another new pair which i flogged on ebay!! lol, they send them out because they no they can blow up if they get too hot, which is there fault! What is the best hair straighteners to buy?
I have a Chi %26amp; a Revlon straightner %26amp; they both work great! I like the Revlon one more because its is big, thick %26amp; gets really hot so it works great on my thick hair! But the Chi one is PINK! :)
i have an ELITE but i want a MAXI GLIDE...they are really good.
ghd's and they are cheap on ebay
GHD' s are the best , it;s got to be said, they keep my hair straight all day long and they're worth every bit of money, ive got the wide plate GHD's , im getting the new ones soon
    You need the CHI.

I have extremely thick hair, and it's also on the long side. I struggled just like you with finding a good quality straightener. Finally my cousin told me about the CHI, and I swear, it's the best thing I've ever bought.

It's pretty expensive - around 90 bucks - but believe me, it's worth the investment. I don't know why this iron works so much better than any other iron on the market, but it does. All CHI products have a great reputation around the globe.

It also leaves your hair very shiny and silky smooth.

If you just google CHI flat iron, you can shop around for the best price. You'll probably spend about that much money on crappy irons anyway, you might as well invest in a very high-quality product, especially if you have thick hair.
The best you can get is GHDs straighteners. You can buy them from any hair salon. The price is big but the results are ';perfection';! and remember to use the hair protections! It is a pair of professional styling iron with advanced ceramictechnology. I have really curly hair and i'm amazed everytime i straighten my hair. It's all about GHDs!!
You can get them cheaper on eBay.

    Or try CHI straighteners.
well i would recommend a conair.Mine is red and has timer for it to shut off in either 5,10,15,20,25,30 you can change the timer.it also tells you when its all the heated up.but what ever you do don't get one you can change the heads because those don't work.
i had the nicky clarke ceramic digital straightners which cost 拢45 and were really good. but ive just got the new ghd straightner curl thing and they're brill if ya can wait and save up for em.

if not then i would recomend the nicky clarke ones as i have really long, think hair and they straightened my hair quickly and kept it (pretty much) as i wanted it all day.
I love Nicky Clarke - I have long, thick hair and these are fab - I bought mine in Boots for about 拢30 18 months ago

  • Should the plates in hair straighteners have a low or high specific heat capacity and why?

I'm doing my physics coursework on tourmaline hair straighteners and really can't find anything on this online.

Also what other properties should the plates have and why?

Thankyou!Should the plates in hair straighteners have a low or high specific heat capacity and why?
a low heat capacity. The lower the heat capacity the less energy needed to raise the temperature, thus making it more efficient.

Can hair straighteners start burning your hair a couple of years AFTER you buy it?

I don't remember the HerStyler being such a disappointment when I first bought it about 2-3 years ago. But I've been realizing that it's not straightening my hair as well these days (it leaves my hair partly frizzy and it almost seems like I didn't even use it). I already tried cranking up the heat but that didn't work either. Is it time to buy a new one? If so, any recommendations? Can hair straighteners start burning your hair a couple of years AFTER you buy it?
get a CHI they last FOREVER!!!

    and they rock

    i wish i had one

i have the wet to straight

    it sucks

What hair straighteners are right for me?

I have very curly, frizzy hair and like it straight all the time. I had a pair of straightening irons bu they don't straighten as well as they used to, so I need some new ones.

I don't have a very big budget at all, but I would like my irons to be of very good quality. I straighten my hair every day so it would be good if they had long life and long-lasting effects.

What brand do you/would you recommend, including prices? What hair straighteners are right for me?
well you said you dont have a very high budget AND that you want to get a good quality straightener which i dont really think is possible... trust me, i've tried MANY brands of straighteners, most of them a cheap breand found at walgreens, and nothing i have tried works better than a CHI. The only straightener that i have descovered that is better than a CHI is Paul Mitchel, and that brand is more expensive than CHI. You could probably find a CHI straightener on Ebay for cheap.

I'm not exactly sure what the prices are right now.

I would also recommend using a light weight styling gel on your hair. I have very curly hair as well, but mine is no longer frizzy becuase i put on a styling gel after i get out of the shower. A good brand for a styling get would be Victoria Secret's So Sexy hair products. They smell really goodm, they make your hair shiny and soft, and extremely managable. What hair straighteners are right for me?
hair Straighteners are bad if your don't get the right ones. the ceramic ones are good as long as they have a temperature control on them. most of the others suck. there are some new ones out which have a new coat on them get those, they last for a life time and wont re ck your hair follicles

This by far is the BEST straighter I have.. it works wonders!

Do hair straighteners that claim to work on wet hair actually work?

I have an interest in buying a straightener that will dry and straighten my hair at the same time, but I'm not looking to spend a lot of money (thinking of the ones sold at target for about $50). However, I haven't heard claims of whether or not they actually work well.

Plus, if they do work, do you think they would work on thick hair? Mine is incredibly thick and normally takes me a while to straighten with a dry-hair straightener. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks.Do hair straighteners that claim to work on wet hair actually work?
well it can't be dripping wet if you want it to dry with one time over your hair. If you towel dry it a little bit, just to get a bit of the water out, then straghten it. it should work fine.

What hair straighteners work best for african american women?

I'd say the Chi flat irons

I've never tried them but I heard they were the best

    their over $100 I think around $120
many hair straighteners in the stores are for white people hair, you should go to a salon that works with primary African-American and ask them what brand they use and buy it. Those can get expensive but they are good, if you want cheap go to Sally's they have many things for black hair.
I think that haironics hair straighteners might work, but also the Tresima line of hair products also work really well. Im sure they make hair straighteners. Maybe you should talk to a hair stylist, at a local salon and ask them. usually they give pretty good and helpfull answers. They also use good products, so they will know exactly what you are talking about, and what will most likely work best for your hair. And you have nothing to loose. As for the pricing, hair straighteners can go up to thirty dollars, or even more, but most of the time, you can get a good hair straightener, for a good prace, that suits your hair type the best, since they make all differnt sorts of them for differnt types of hairs, and hairstyles.
Coriolss its like 100 dollars and its really good.
i have a CHI iron there really good idk where u live but if they have a store called Sally's you can get one for like 50$ they work really goo hope i helped
Im white.. but i know a lot about hair. Try a permanent hair relaxer. Its a chemical product. If you dont want to do that you could buy an ';Ion Straightener.'; Its amazing. Usually with a straightener you have to go over the same chunk of hair at least 5 times before it looks even close to straight. With the Ion you only have to go over it one time and its emtremely straight. The only bad part is it's $100.00. Worth every buck. If your on a tighter budget try the permanent straightener. You can buy them at stores or get them done at a hair salon.
I use a Revlon flat iron and that works pretty well! Then again i don't have a perm yet, and i still have to use the hot comb! But try a store like Sally's. They have some pretty good stuff!
Dark and Lovely NO LYE relaxers!
i like the chi irons. they r about 45. u can get them at sallys. its a great store with everything 4 black people hair.

What are good hair straighteners that arent that expensive?

I need to buy a new hair straightener, but not one that is too expensive like a chi, but not cheap. And I'd like one with a heat setting. I have been hearing things about the conair infiniti. Is this a good one? Can you recommend some to me?What are good hair straighteners that arent that expensive?
Hi ,you can try a CHI or a GHD online ,that will very cheap ,have a try ! such as Dark/Pink GHD MK4 styler flat hair straightener iron ,blue digital 1 inch CHI Ceramic Hairstyling Straightener iron .What are good hair straighteners that arent that expensive?
You can try straighteners from Remington. My friend has a t-studio and it works with in the first time she straightens it and costs under 40 bucks! My sister has a different type of Remington and it was under twenty. It did a great job at straightening. Hope this helps! I wouldn't buy any conair brands. They fry my hair with products in my hair. Also, they barely do anything to my hair. I have a straightener that is a metropolis, but it was about $300. But it straightens great:)
