So, I was wondering what to look for and what these terms actually mean.
1. Tourmaline coated plates
2.Teflon coated plates
3.Ceramic diamond plates...?
What straighteners would be good for me?
What should I look for in straighteners?
Why are some better than others, even when they seem to have the same features?
What should I look for in hair straighteners?
here are some tips
# Choose a professional hair straightening flat iron with ceramic instead of traditional metal plates (an Integrated Ceramic Heating System). Although ceramic systems can still damage the hair, they do not cause as much damage as the ceramic distributes heat more evenly and helps to lock moisture and oils into the hair at a microscopic level, is molded smoother than the metal plates during the manufacturing process and are coated to help protect hair. Also, as a result of their structure and ability to more evenly distribute heat, they heat up faster than traditional irons and reheat faster between applications.
# Review the flat iron's specs (heater type and amount of heat distributed by the heater, heat-up and cool-down speeds, width and thickness of the ceramic plates and heat control adjustability), before buying. Your heater's elements should be at least 60 watts, evenly housed inside of the ceramic plates, the same size as the plates and able to create rapid temperature adjustments up to 400 degrees. keep in mind that longer, narrow flat irons work on most hair types while thick, wider hair irons work best on thicker and curlier hair.
# Consider add-ons or other ease-of-use features such as a swivel or tangle-free cord, cordless option, power consumption efficiency (i.e. amount of electricity it uses), manufacturer's warranty, additional moisture and oil ';lock-in'; technology or an ergonomic handle.

Ceramic doesnt damage or make your hair dry, and the CHI straightners arent always the best kind, http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view?back=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3Fp%3Dhair%2Bstraightener%26fr%3Dsfp%26ei%3Dutf-8%26js%3D1%26x%3Dwrt%26amp;w=380%26amp;h=175%26amp;imgurl=static.flickr.com%2F3198%2F2602470087_aa60a980e1.jpg%26amp;rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2F27896384%40N02%2F2602470087%2F%26amp;size=17.1kB%26amp;name=Babyliss+PRO+230%C2%BA+Pink+hair+Straightener%26amp;p=hair+straightener%26amp;type=JPG%26amp;oid=b71994b6848fde58%26amp;fusr=rachna_goel%26amp;tit=Babyliss+PRO+230%C2%BA+Pink+hair+Straightener%26amp;hurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2F27896384%40N02%2F%26amp;no=15%26amp;tt=14,434%26amp;sigr=11l2j3taf%26amp;sigi=11g7a0c0u%26amp;sigb=12rrfibig%26amp;sigh=11app9k35
this is the one i use and its great!
1. Tourmaline coated plates
2.Teflon coated plates
3.Ceramic diamond plates
All them things are important but the best hair straighteners are the ones that heat up to over 200 degrees celcius
ceramic is nice and smooth and shiny.
I have one.
I would just buy a GHD. They never break down and I've had mine for two years running so far
make sure they work
