Buying hair straighteners for someone as a birthday present...?

What is the difference between ceramic and tourmaline??

What is best?Buying hair straighteners for someone as a birthday present...?
ceramic's best.. if you're UK, pop into boots and get a pair of Remington straighteners - they're a cheaper option but still good quality.Buying hair straighteners for someone as a birthday present...?
Tourmaline plates produce a far greater number of negative ions than do ceramic plates. Negative ions straighten your hair for far longer and give it a silkier, shinier look. So, if you're thinking of buying a flat iron you should only buy a flat iron with plates that have been plated with tourmaline.

This youtube video is very informative about some of the differences between the types of flat irons.

The CHI breaks easily and has a very limited warranty. Try the Sedu. (It is both Ceramic %26amp; Tourmaline.) That is what I use and my hair is nothing but thick curls.....

In less than an hour (which is amazingly fast for me). plus i can keep it straight for 2-3 days with minimal touchups! It is great in humidity too. I blow dry my hair, smooth on some heat protectant (CHI Infra Treatment Thermal Protective) and straighten.
get a straightener with ceramic plates.. they seem to be the best.. actually the best hair straightener out right now is the chi, but I'm not sure how much your willing to spend.
I know that ceramic ones are good.

Never heard of the others! Which may mean that they're rubbish.

Get GHDs, they are the best and a good, well-known brand.

im not sure about the kind of thing they r made out of. but i do know a really good brand to buy. coniar. i use coniar almost daily and i love it. my hair is striaght and shiny and just perfect. so i hope this helps event though its not wat u were looking for.
both ceramic and tourmaline are metals...ive got straighteners that have both in them AND taflon, another metal.

still, i would recommend ceramic
CERAMIC chi

hahahah those are goood

but tell them not to straighten their hair to much

or you will literally fry it and cause dead ends and crap muchhhhh faster
a chi is the best one:)

i have never heard of tourmaline, but i have always used ceramic. they are amazing! they work rele well and is the best type for your hair! hope this helps! xxxx
i dont know the difference but my hairdresser says that ceramic is the best of them, it makes much softer hair
Ceramic are best i think the glide smoother over the hair!
I have a SOLIA iron (www.folica.com) that is a ceramic-tourmaline mix, and it works well. It runs for around $80-$100.
