The US and UK have different frequency and even with adapters things made in US burn out fairly quick in the UK..My hair dryer lasted 2 days in the UK..The power cord for my laptop would only last about a week..Lived in the UK for a year and ruined lots of US stuff

I need information about hair straighteners and dual voltage (US to UK)?
I am visiting friends in London for my winter break and had been planning to buy an American hair straightener. However I am hesitant to do so because of travel and the fact that my parents live in continental Europe. I need to know if it is possible to buy a hair straightener that only needs an adapter and works successfully in either America %26amp; UK, America %26amp; Continental Europe or just UK %26amp; Continental Europe. All information appreciated esp. personal experience -- as someone who travels a lot I try to avoid the appliance question at all times because have heard too many horror stories (fuses blown, etc). Ideally, would buy straightener that works (WELL) in all 3 of these places with only an adapter. Thanks for your time!!I need information about hair straighteners and dual voltage (US to UK)?
