What should I look for in a pair of hair straighteners?

For long hair.

What is important?

Are the comb bits that guide hair through important?

What about a steam option?

What temperature should they go to?

Does the price matter a lot? Should I fork out over 100 to get a decent pair? What should I look for in a pair of hair straighteners?
I have 'She' straighteners. They are made in the same factory and from the same parts as GHDs and are every bit as good - plus you'll pay 1/3 of the price. Don't waste your money on anything else, I've tried and they're nowhere near as good!

Look for ceramic or glass plates and a very high temperature. Mine are by Babyliss and they go up to 230 degrees, and they're pretty good. Forget about those comb things, it's a gimmick.
The label GHD - don't waste your money on any of the others.
If you have long thick hair I find that the steam option doesnt usually help that much. Make sure they r ceramic, GHD r usually the best type to get. U shouldnt have to pay over a 拢100 for a decent pair, boots usually hav good offers on them but the more u pay the better they r. Should b able 2 get a decent pair 4 拢70.00 maximum xxx
GHD or CHI straighteners are very good, and they are worth the money
Hi there

I have a long wavy frizzy hair and have been using hair straightener for 5 years now. I tried many brands, but the best so far is Vidal Sasoon with steam. I usualy use it without steam for better result. Try it.
I got nicky clark ceramic set, but hear the glass straightners are better.

My mother used an ordinary iron in the 70's. God bless her. : )
You want a ceramic one, the ones without combs work better for me. The temp should be HOT! You get what you pay for but you can find some good deals on ebay. For my travel one I forked out over 100 but it is worth it!
my hair straightener is a ';silver bullet'; i also recommend ';GHD'; (good hair day). my SB heats up to 210 degrees celcius in 20 seconds, the plates are ceramic, the shape is slim line. it also has a swivel handle. it cost me $250 australian dollars. ceramic is good as doesn't burn your hair. good luck!
Ceramic. GHD Profesional are good according to my girlfriend. And her hair does look good.
you basically get what you pay for try asking friends to use their and choose the best ones for you
i had a pair of GHD's yes they are very good but i broke them, now i have a babyliss pro ceramic set, model no 2075U, wow just as good, and a lot cheaper, 拢27 in wilkinsons, digital variable heat setting up to 230 degrees in seconds!.....excellent, i won't be getting GHD's again!!!!
I have GHD's and I think they are over rated and over priced. I have used glass plates and they are very good. Just look for some with glass or ceramic plates, and buy the ones which reach the highest temperature. The comb things just pull your hair out so don't worry about them.
GHD straighteners are best and really worth spending the money on. I can' stress this enough. The others will wreck your hair. I have had my GHD's for 4 years now and they are as great as when I first bought them. Make sure you use a protective spray for your hair though, any one will do. Doesn't have to be the GHD one. Another bonus with GHD's is that as well as straightening you can flick and curl... They're great and well worth spending the money on.
