What should I know about hair straighteners?

i'm thinking about buying a straightener. what should i look out for? What should I know about hair straighteners?
Ceramic or teflon blades, no SHINY SILVER blades. they damage hair.

Also look for brands like Toni n guy, Mark hill, remington, nicky clarke, Ghds (my personal favorite) n babyliss.

the temperature should go up to 200+ (mine's 230).

look for words like gives your hair shine etc on the box, cuz they actually do.

Thats about it I think. What should I know about hair straighteners?
Make sure they go up to a high enough temperature and that they have at least a swivel cord (makes them easier to handle) and if they have ceramic coating on the plates (runs over hair easier)

I have GHDs but you don't need great brands to get good results!

Hope i helped :)

I have GHD's and I love them. Been using them for about 7 years. On my 2nd. They do last years. I have find that the cheapy ones don't really give good results. They give you straight hair but don't last as long. Maybe half a day. And when you do buy straighteners and start using them. Always use a heat protector spray on your hair first. I find that the GHD thermal protector and the Aussie heat protect and leave-in straightening spray are the best.

Hope I helped :)
You should buy a kit that is suited for your hair type (thick, thin, wavy, kinky, etc.). Like the other answer, price is unimportant. There are some quality inexpensive straighteners out there. Add information about your hair and we can answer your question better.
