Efficiency of Hair Straighteners?

Up until now I have been straightening my hair using a hairdryer. It's really a pain in the behind and with the upcoming summer, it'll be intolerable.

I'm thinking about getting a hair straightener but have been told that they are not efficient.

I have a medium length wavy to curly hair. Will hair straighteners be as good as, or even better, than a hair dryer? If so, are there any brands/models you recommend?Efficiency of Hair Straighteners?
Flat irons are worth the money. I have owned at least 8 different ones. The cheap ones really do not work as well. In this industry you get what you pay for. CHI, GHD, Paul Mitchell, Tigi are all very excellent. They are costly but they are worth their weight in gold. If you have thick hair take small partings. If your hair is thin, the cheaper ones will probally work, but they really are not as good.Efficiency of Hair Straighteners?
Make sure you get a ceramic straitener. I have curly, wavy hair too and when I tell people about it, they don't believe me because I straiten it every day.

What you should do, is right after you wash it, blow dry it, but you don't have to stand there forever blow drying it. Right after you do that, run the straigtener through it, And it will look hot!

You do not have to buy an expensive fancy straitener.

I have had the same one for about 2 years and it works great! I got it at Wal Mart, for about 20 bucks.

It is a white one the is by Revlon, and says ';Revlon Ceramic'; on it.

Best wishes!
save up money and get the INFINITY HAIR STRAIGHTENER!!!!

while your hair is damp, comb it thru and it straightens as it drives, but it cost like $50 plus tax is like almost $55 altogether.....so yeah...
i have medium length curly hair with layers and most straighteners dont work. but i have a corioliss straightener and its AMAZING! It straightens my hair in less than 10 minutes
You do realise that you need to blow dry your hair straight before using straighteners and that applying heat directly to you hair ruins it?

Sack the idea, I rarely use them at work these days as volume and the more natural look is the big thing!!
i have the same kind of hair and when i go get it done it comes out staright, most work very well, others aren't as good. the only thing that i can recommend is to find a flat iron that is pretty heavy(in watts), because the lighter it is the worst it is to straigten. and im looking for a new straighter too mine broke the other day:(.

but yea thats all i can really say to help u out there.

hope this helps a bitt.:)
I have a Chi and I really like it. My sister just got one of the new T3's and she loves it better than she liked her Chi. I've used all the brands available in drugstores (conair, revlon, etc), but its definitely worth the investment in a good one. They get super hot, so you will only have to go over a section once or twice. The cheaper ones don't get as hot, and you will end up causing more damage to your hair b/c you'll be going over the same section 5 or 6 times to achieve the straightness you would get with one pass of a Chi or T3. I can't remember the model of T3 that my sister got, but it was around $200. My Chi is the pink Breast Cancer Awareness and I've had it for almost 3 years now. It still works like brand new! And it heats up very fast and I just run a cotton ball over the plates with rubbing alcohol when I start to notice styling product buildup, which is about twice a year.
I also use a hair straigtener. I have Wet 2 Straight, and it works really good, but if you want a good quality one, there is an awesome on called CHI. And if u get CHI, get the other products, like there silky hair and stuff. They work wonders. Also, if you don't like the pain of having to straighten your hair everyday, you can get a perm. Now this perm will chemicly straighten your hair, but it may be harder to take care of. Make sure to tell the person you want a straight perm! Hope i helped, and good luck!!!
straighteners are good but dont

waist your money on a chi

i have a generic version that

works just as good its called

a gvp.
I would reccomend the Select Pro gold straightner which is 15.99 at walmart and works amazingly!
straightners are great but you have to get a good one. dont buy any brands like conair, remmington or any brand that you can get at walmart or walgreens. sally beauty supply has a wide varity of great, professional hair straighteners that are affordable. dont waste your money on $200 straighteners like chis. they dont actually work that well and they damage your hair
I've only had 1 hair straightener and it was a cheap one that didn't even end up working.

My friend gave a Conair curling iron and I tried to use it as a straightener and it was absolutely amazing! It works better than a straighter and hair dyer and it doubles as a curling iron.
I reccomend the CHI hair styling iron. Used by professionals, it really works great on curly hair. My hair is wavy and curly as well, and it is well worth the money. It has a one-heat setting, so you won't have to worry about burning your hair.
