Do the ceramic plates on hair straighteners go bad? Or need to be replaced?

i have had my ghd straighteners for 3 years and they are still good. it might depend on the brand, but i think they should last a good while as long as they don't get too much hair products on them.Do the ceramic plates on hair straighteners go bad? Or need to be replaced?

As long as you get a good brand and clean them often, (Rub them with an old rag, make sure it's thick so you don't burn yourself, while they're hot), they should be fine for a good couple of years. My Ghd's have lasted a year and a half so far, and that's with using them daily, and my hairdresser's have lasted 3 years and she uses them on clients all day, every day!
have never heard of it happening. i have my straightener for a long time now and its working great.
