Is there any real difference between wide plates and slim plates on hair straighteners?

yes there is. wider plates are for africa-american or very curly and large frizzy hair. With the larger plates they are able to straighten their hair alot easier as they can straighten larger strands at a time.

the thinner plates are therefore for thinner to medium thick hair. they can be used on all hair types though (larger ones are just specially designed for that type of hair).

also with ghd there is a 'mini styler' available. It is a straightener with about 1cm plates. It is designed for short hair and for men. Also it is very good for creating a womans 'flick' slyle.

And all size plates on straighteners are able to curl. they just create different types. the mini style would create smaller ringlety curls and the average straightener creates a more average/normaler looking curl (seen usually on girls for formal occasions). Finally the wide plate creates a loose larger flowing type of curl.

so yeah thats what the different plate do! there is a difference. ihope this helped:) Is there any real difference between wide plates and slim plates on hair straighteners?
Slim plates are usually fine for normal hair, but wide plates are better if you have very thick hair, or if you have tight curls. Some slim plate straighteners can be used for creating spiral curls in your hair too, which can look really cute : ) Apart from that they are similar. Is there any real difference between wide plates and slim plates on hair straighteners?
i prefer slim plates, easier to hold, move it around, curl and straighten.

but wide plates are really good if you want to be 'economic' and save time and just pshew, straighten hair and leave in like 5mins.
Nope just ones wider than the other i personally prefer the slim plates though because there earier to hold and manouver around.
With most slim plate models you can also curl your hair but in terms of straightening they are pretty much the same.
I think the slim plates work better on thinner/shorter hair.
