Do American hair dryers and hair straighteners work in Europe with just a converter?

I am going to Europe next week and am wondering if I am going to have to buy a dryer and straightener there that will work, or can i just plug mine into a converter. You should get a converter to be on the safe side or lower the heat on your flat iron. If not you could really damage your hair due to the fact that the voltage increases international
